America West, nice service.

I work for HP 2 years ago before moving on to better things, but I must say I am really impressed. This past weekend I flew them from PHX to CLE. On Friday pushed out of PHX on time. Then on the return route Sun. night arrived 41 min. early into PHX no head wind helps. Flight attendents were all a lot better then I remember. Its just nice to see how a company can turn it around if they really try.

America West, has a great core of employees many of hem have been with the airlines since the very begining. Thankfully Franke got tossed and they have a man in place who cares both about his employees and the flying public. We can only hope to see America West continue on its upward climb into both customer service and innovation!

Thats good to hear. Its been sooo long since I Have flown America West I think it was 1993 or so, its been awhile and they were so-so at the time so I am glad they have changed, they have a large existence at STL with 3-4 daily to PHX and 1 to LAS. so I Was surpised we didn't have regional to CMH. But oh well, next time I head to PHX or the west ill look out AWA and see if they are cheap enough for me to try them out again.

Alex.

I'm waiting for the next contract to come up, so those of us Fleet agents that don't do ramp work can get some sort of incentive (IE, cargo). I mean, come on! We deal with customers and are forklift certified! Is there not room for an incentive there? (Especially for those of us who work more than 1 airline.)

My experience with HP has been positive although I have only flown on them a couple of times. The people that I know who work for them always seem happy to be there and I really like their facility on the east side of the terminals at PHX. The only problem I would have working for them (if I did) would be dealing with the extreme heat in the summer and loads of people that flock for the Valley during the winter!

I'm glad you all have had good experiences! Yes things have changed for the better, and always improving.

In general our work force has much higher morale than before, though the passenger service agents are getting ready to start the union campaign again....maybe this time we will win!

Things are certainly looking up for HP and it will be interesting to watch how we change and add new services over the next few years.

HP is still a joke in my book they always push 10 to 15 min early before there departure time leaving pax behind..in a way it really good for us at SWA the more they pissoff the more $$$ we make.

How will HP be able to compete on this route with only one departure daily when WN has departures almost every hour? Seems almost pointless that HP would do this.

HP LAS-BUR?? When?? Where?? hehe

Mr. LGBGUY, no, it's no joke, our flights close 10 minutes before departure (as do most other majors) and if you're not there....we're gone!  Smile Believe me I've been responsible for many 5 minute delays, waiting for passengers to arrive. I'd rather piss off 1 or 2 passengers than the entire plane! Because we had operational problems a few years back, we held a lot of flights for connecting passengers. We don't have those problems anymore and we don't hold for connections either unless it's a large group.

I politely refer to our departure policy printed on various signs, as well as in the ticket jacket, and rebook them on the next flight. No one has given me a problem in a long time...they usually know they screwed up.

Ah ha! Helps if you read press releases!! hehe

I just noticed the new LAS-BUR service on our website....I'm suprised it's a mainline flight but it could be the plane is just sitting around doing nothing...why not try to make some revenue? That is probably the case, since if it was a market they were trying for, more flights would have been added.

I have been a confirmed AmericanWorst hater for years---HOWEVER, having flown then last month I was pleasantly surpised...not only in the air..but also on the ground (where..face it..they used to be horrible). Clearly, much progress has been made.

So now it's back to "America West".

Enjoy your trip.

Well AWA10921 - you can thank the hard working folks at Delta Global Services in CLE for getting you out on time! We handle ramp ops for HP here in CLE.

Always thought HP was alright, too bad they never really expanded to the east coast to compete with the big boys..

America West Express is another topic though - nightmare from start to finish the 3 times i've flown them

I'm not suprised at how well CLE is run, their station manager is my old supervisor. He's young, but he does a great job and always helped us out to get flights ontime. He was involved in our record "12 minute 737 turn" (full coming in and going out mind you!)

If the Gulf War in the early nineties hadn't happend, and Ed was still in charge, HP would be vastly different now than it is. We were spreading our wings quite far into the east coast (as well as the Far East!).
