UK Charters - Summer 2004

Wed Jan 21, 2004 7:21 am

This post is for information or comments about anything regarding British charter operations this summer. Was going to post in the "Best UK Charter Airline" thread, but thought it was going off-topic so opened this Big thumbs up

Got a few questions to kick off. In a previous thread someone mentioned a European Aircharter 733 at NCL. Are EAF defintely getting 733s then, if so when they having them? My BHX-PMI at the end of June is now EAF, maybe I'll be lucky and get a 733!!

Also, it does not seem Islandsflug are coming to BHX this year. Would assume this is due to the based Excel 738. Anyone confirm? Shame really, they had a great summer last year, rarely delayed, good customer feedback etc

Ok thats what I wanted to say, so over to you...

I did have a look when you first asked the question. At the moment I can't see an EAF BHX-PMI Tuesday flight appearing yet, but at this stage that's no surprise. You'll find most charter airlines are still engaged in finalising their flying for April before the summer programme is confirmed.

Latest info for Summer 2004 BHX-PMI on Tuesday is as follows.
If the EAF flight is going ahead it will appear shortly;

0655-1240 FCA305C/D
0840-1445 TCX875K/L
1405-1940 MON3372/3
1545-2150 TCX364K/L
2045-0250 MYT1569/0

Summer 2004 is 1 week longer this year, with 1st May and 30th October both being on a Saturday. Some smaller tour operators are booking seats on Saturday flights instead of Sunday flights to sell more summer holidays this year.

I noticed that EAF are doing flights to XRY on Mondays from LGW and BHX presumably for holidays on the expanding Costa de la Luz.

We had Hola visit LBA every Saturday last summer. Their livery takes "Eurowhite" to a whole new level.

Generally they were good timekeepers though. Not sure what their service is like.

Can anyone tell me if Spanair will still be using their MD83's on UK charters this coming summer or do they all have A320's flown these days?

CKT789,

They will be flying to Faro, Palma and Tenerife for freedom flights. Faro and Palma on Saturdays, Tenerife on Fridays.

Info from
http://www.baa.com/main/airports/edinburgh/edinburgh_flight_information_frame.html

Have a look at it. It has all the charter flight information for EDI for this winter and this coming summer.

Thanks for the info everyone!

Crosswind, that MON3372 is the flight Cosmos booked us on. I have only been told our flight has changed to 0900, as I did not book the holiday, so the guy who did ahs had the letter. Flightline.co.uk are selling seats on this :

EAF1828 09:00 15:20

So i just assume this is the flight Cosmos have thrown us on. Cosmos is now selling no BHX Tuesaday Mallorca departures on their website, so I wonder if the Monarch flight is not going ahead now and they have put us on what they could find. Oh well look on the bright side, better flight times, just crappier flight!!

Anything else interesting to note around the country, I know its a bit early yet and charters can change at the last minute lol!

Anything decent happening at LTN this year on the charter scene???

The last couple of years have scene a decline in charter airline operations out of LTN will this continue this year?

How many aircrafts are Britannia and Monarch basing at LTN this year and will any other airlines base an aircraft here this summer like MyTravel or Air 2000.

Sorry about all the questions but would be interested to know.

Cheers

Thanks again Crosswinds! Big thumbs up  Big thumbs up

NG is an interesting one. Summer charters to INN!

I'm doubtful about Nordic East Airlink NDC being correct probably on BAAs part because those flights are operating for Direct Holidays to HER.

Hoping to see some 737 with winglets from Eurocypria!
Any idea what aircraft these routes are most likely to be operated by? Crosswinds!  Smile

ScottishLaddie:

Dont rely on the BAA timetable too much, it has a habbit of being wrong. The airlines listed are just proposed flights. Last year they listed all sorts of airlines flying all sorts of routes, however half of them did not materialise. My take is:

Flight Code: Flight has been confirmed and will operate
Airline Code but no number: Tour operator has found an airline to operate the flight, but it isnt confirmed yet
No airline code: Tour operator would like to operate the route but cant find an airline to operate it.

Thats my take anyway, its probably wrong though Big grin

Nordik Air Link operated a flight last summer to Billund. They are a BA franchise.

Nighthawk thought I recognised you from somewhere! Taxiway alpha. I'm you'r most recent member!
I don't suppose Nordic Air Link will be operating the HER flights though, so that must be a mistake. Why are TS having a week off in the middle of May according to the timetable?

Nordic Air Link are not a BA franchise.
The EDI-BLL flights were operated 2 x weekly by Sun Air? of Denmark, who operate services in BA colours.

Its unusual for Direct Holidays to use any overseas airline. There were a few unusual airlines using BRS and STN last year to Greece, cant remember the airline codes, does anyone know them, particulaly to KGS, CFU and RHO. If EAF are basing and aircraft, where else are they flying to apart from PMI. Any interesting airlines or aircraft due to visit NCL this summer?
Why drive when you can fly?

GKirk: You are correct, my mistake. Sun Air was who I was thinking of. Im sure Nordic were down to operate a flight in summer 2003 but I cant remember which now! BTW you going to the club Thu night? Ill be in with my father for a quick pint...  Big grin

ScottishLaddie:
EDI did not operate a flight to SFB last year. In 2002 EAF opperated the route with a 747-220. The aircraft caused minor damage to the runway on takeoff, ripping up pieces of tarmac. Not sure why they didnt return in 2003, im sure there is more than enough demand...

TS are not having a week off in may. The flights will be once weekly, probably operating on a friday morning. Last year the first couple of flights were operated by A330 / TriStars. These will be the flights scheduled for 07/05 - 14/05, and i think will be the Edinburgh and Belfast flights combined. After that they will no doubt return to the usual once weekly A310

Nighthawk, I think you answered yourself why EAF haven't returned. Damaging the runway on takeoff!!  Wow! That can't be right, why and how?
I am surprised that one of the many UK charter airlines hasn't realised the market potential for a Florida flight from EDI. Surely next year, then again there is still time for this year!

Think I'll stay away from the club if your going to be there  Big grin
BTW: The only things I talk about in the club are pool, women, football and beer. I never talk about aviation cos you'ds get the piss taken out of you for years, so If i see you in there, mention something about fitba or something  Big grin

So AMM is now FCA???? Damn thats another one lost  Sad

I hope that this summer will be an intresting one (preferably with me flying as crew and not PAX  Innocent ). Perhaps most of the charters can start to make a profit this season.
