Airline Interview Questions

Wed Jan 21, 2004 10:54 pm

Well, there is a distinct possibility that within a year, I will have the necessary flight time to be a real contender for the right seat with a regional airline. For prep, I have been asking about potential interview questions and looking on the net for reports of interviews. I have known about willflyforfood.cc for sometime, but it seems to have not been updated in a few years. Anyone have any recent experience with interviews or know of any websites where those who have been through the gamut can post their thoughts? I'm looking for questions specific airlines ask, not the typical "Why should we hire you" or "What is your worst quality".
Also, if there different and creative tactics they employ, I'd like to hear about those. For example, I've heard that in an interview, the board will ask the candidate a question, and then half way through the answer cut them off saying something along the lines of "Okay, we've heard enough." This may happen a few times in an effort to provoke the interviewee and see how they react under the stress.
Thanks!

Check out Borders Books or Barnes and Nobles if you have one in your area, you can check out all the books they have on the subject, get yourself a coffee of another beverage, and look through all the books, and take notes, and all it cost you is the cost of your drink.....

if you are interviewing with SW or JB, I'd definitely brush up on your customer service answers. And rethink your past experiences from the CS viewpoint. One of those company say, the hard skill, you can be trained on, but the willingness to serve your customers, you gotta bring that with you. Of course the greatest CS won't do you didly if your piloting skills (dealing with emergencies) is too slow.

Best of luck.

I interviewed with two major US airlines last year and this year for CSA positions (both jobs ended up being incompatible with my school schedule, so I could not accept the jobs). A lot of questions have to do with your specific attributes--your worst quality, your best quality. Another thing that you will probably have to answer questions concerning vague situations, for example: "An elderly man is missing his luggage. He wants monetary compensation that is not allowed by the airline. He keeps arguing with you about it, what would you do?" They will also ask about your favorite and least favorite job--they are looking for negative responses about customers. I was never cut off by the interviewer and I never felt that any mindgames were played in order to provoke me. Both airlines were very professional and the interviews went well.
