Cory, it may just boil down to the fact that thanks to history, JFK
is considered NYC's premier international airport (EWR
is of course NOT in NYC, or NY State), and EK
as a premium international carrier wants to enter the US market by making a bit of a statement. While yes, EWR
is convenient and a CO
is much more of an international gateway and it is serviced by a vast array of major passenger and cargo airlines from around the world, which can't be said for EWR
. But both airports have their markets, which is why many of the major international airlines like BA
, Singapore, etc serve them both!
