Cheatline Or Plain A/C Livery

Fri Jan 23, 2004 7:40 am

I am fairly old school about airline liveries. I prefer a livery with a cheatline. Being brought up in a Delta Airlines family I always loved Delta's cheatline and widget. Though I did like JAS's MD-90s with the colorful rainbow livery.

Now to my question for those of you out there, do you prefer a livery with a cheatline (American, etc.), the all white body with titles and logo (Delta, Lufthansa, etc.), or what I call the combination of a solid color body and some cheatlines (United, Korean Air, etc.)?

It really depends on the colors, and how the cheatline, if applicable, is used in the scheme. I definitley like how it adds something to the livery, but aircraft suh as NW's new scheme do look good without a cheatline.

Most cheatlines look rather old fashioned to me.

I prefer a modern variation of the classic cehatline. Some good examples I have noted recently are US Airways, America West, and several others with this similar style.

I like planes that have unusual paint schemes. That more or less excludes all airlines with cheatlines or plain liveries. Examples would be BWIA or the new Gulf Air scheme.
I do really like the USAirways livery though. It looks very classy, especially on the A330.
