SAS Emergency Landing At Newcastle Today

According to the swedish newspaper Expressen, a SAS MD-80 had to make an emergency landing after smoke developed from one of the overhead bins in the aft of the plane.The captain announced a possible fire onboard and decided to make a emergency landing at Newcastle airport.According to SAS there was never any danger for the 52 passengers who were onboard, but for safety reasons the crew decided to make an emergency landing.
The flight was SK539 leaving CPH at 9 10 am for a flight to MAN.The passengers had to continue their trip by Buss to MAN.
