Good grief I hope not! One Ibiza is enough (together with Magaluf, Faliraki, Ayia Napa etc).

I do hear that Croatia and Bulgaria are set to be the next big things for European tourists.

I am hopefully off to Croatia this year for my holiday, it looks like a delightful destination.

In terms of charter destinations in Croatia, I know that Palmair/European Air Charter is to operate a few charter flights from Jersey to Split this autumn. I think they are operating in late September time with the 732 equipment.

I still don't get why there are no nonstop flights from the USA-CROATIA. They should have them in the summer atleast (charter flights) from May-September, those flights would be packed.

Continental are you going back this summer, I am going in July for about 5 weeks.

Lets get the fact straight those Croatia flights are scheduled services aren,t they ?
Not charter and neither is the Adria service to Ljubljana a charter service either !
The Croatia/Dalmasia coast have been very popular with the British and Germans since the sixties !
Admittedly the civil wars plagued the former Yugoslav countries in the early nineties after Tito death.(Much in the way expected by many scholar's beforehand).
With more stabilization and EU prospects the package tour industry is now beginning to return.
(Many of the facilities are still in place and the war damage is being repaired)
In any case other than the bombardment of Dubrovik the coastal area were pretty much saved much of the devatation.
So in the next very few seasons the big guns will also return.
TUI/First Choice etc.
My travel might not they are to young I think and will have to establish a rappore and network with the local hotel travel industry from scratch.
yachters were the real big player here in times past (Sure they were state owned )
Have a pleasant holiday

Last spring I flew SXF-DBV on a Croatia Airlines charter. I booked this flight on
www.tui.de. I am planning to travel there the first two weeks in august of this year but I have not been able to find that flight. Is it going to be operating on their summer timetable this year. Are there any other airliners that fly from Berlin to DBV? Thanks

Bring back the good old days when Yugotours use to charter JAT's vintage DC-9's and B727-200's from the UK to the coast airports of Pula, Krk, Zadar, Split, Bol, Dubrovnik, Tivat and Podgorica (Use to be called Titograd) during the summer months.

They use to fly from about every possible UK airport including, Southend, Manston, Exeter, Humberside and Aberdeen!

Gilesdavies, you forgot to mention the pure pleasure of also seeing those wonderful JAT B707's and Aviogenex TU-134's used on these charter routes at the same time back in the 1980's.

Those were the days, back when the European charter scene had some spice and variety!

Does anyone know what plans OU has for this year. Will they introduce any new routes, or order any more planes? What about Air Adriatic are they still around, and if anybody knows if they have any plans for this year?

CB777: No news from Croatia, no orders, no new routes.... maybe something happens now when "new-old" government takes full power, they were their "pet" from the early days...
When it comes to AirAdriatic, they are arround, this year with 3 MD82's, still trying to secure their place in the skies...

Capital146 - Unfortunately I never had the pleasure of Aviogenex!

We flew to the former Yugoslavia back in the late 1980's I was only 9-12 years old.

In 1988 I have the pleasure of JAT's DC-9 from LTN-PUY-LTN.

In 1989 the journey was a little more entertaining we flew on one of JAT's "new" 737-300 in the classic silver livery, we were supposed to fly to DBV but we got diverted to Belgrade, we was not told we was been diverted until 10 minutes before landing by some stewardess in broken English. They blamed it on Thunderstorms in the DBV area, but Belgrade is 400 miles from DBV and could have flown us to Tivat or Titograd.

The following morning we flew onto DBV on this wreck of a DC-9, the cockpit just had a curtain which they left open for the full flight. My dad was sat in the aisle seat and could see straight ahead into the cockpit. I remember my dad saying he thought we was going to crash into the mountains on approach to DBV, and the cockpit had wires hanging out with LEDS on the end of them!

The flight home was a little more straight forward on a qaulity 727-200, back to LTN from DBV. I have never flown on one since but I remember how noise they were and kept having to shout to each other on the flight.

1990 we flew LTN-SPU-LTN with Adria Airways on a leased Cyprus Airways A320 on the way out and one of Adria's current A320's on the lay home.

Whenever we flew with JAT we was always delayed by a minimum of two hours and we worked out JAT stood for "Joke About Time"!

Despite the Adria livery been over 10 years old I think this still looks very modern and one of my favourites!

I think that OU should have bigger planes or more flights from popular cities in europe to SPU. I can never get a connection from FRA-SPU. I fly LAX-FRA-ZAG-SPU. I always hear that the FRA-SPU is sold out. I do love Croatia Airlines a lot and I am excited to fly them this summer when I go back home to croatia for 3 weeks.

Agree with your positing. Croatia is a beautiful place. I sincerely hope that the country can shed the memories of the past and regain some of the popularity it first had.

Just for your info, TUI (Thomson and Portland in the UK), have been going to Croatia for the last few years. I worked with them in Istria 2001, which if i remember right, was their 4th consecutive year of operating charters to Pula (PUY/LDPL). Initially, I believe they operated shared charters with various other tour operators from LGW / BHX and MAN, some of which were operated by the 235 seat BY 757's. By the time I got there, they had scaled down the operation a little to just two 130 seat 737-200's from EAF. Although I love the look and sound of those stubby little aircraft, they were very unreliable which was a real pain in the ar*e.
The following year however, and BY were back with LGW and MAN flights operated by 757's. Due to dissapointing yeilds, I believe that the MAN flight is scheduled to be operated by Eurocypria this year.

Thomson / Portland has also been operating to Zadar and Dubrovnik resorts for a while too, under their Thomson Lakes & Mountains brand, using the scheduled services of OU.

It is good to see some of the other UK tour operators taking the plunge and investing in a new destination. Good luck to 'em.
