News from BWIA: Something for the new 343 to do?

Fly Non-Stop between St. Lucia and the UK!

BWIA West Indies Airways, the international scheduled airline of the Caribbean, has announced the introduction of direct flights between the UK and St Lucia Hewanorra Airport, commencing 17th February 2004.

BWIA has operated flights between St Lucia and the UK for over 20 years, and with the recently-announced arrival of the carrier’s second A340-300 aircraft, there will now be a return to the twice-weekly non-stop service. The flights will operate on Tuesdays and Sundays in both directions from/to London Heathrow Airport using A340-300 aircraft.

The current daily connecting services via Barbados, Antigua or Port of Spain which are operated in conjunction with BWIA’s intra-Caribbean partner, LIAT, will continue.

I did not know that BWee had actually suspended direct services between UVF and LHR but they have been in a chaotic time with so many wet-leases and all that so the news that a second A340 is coming to the fleet is a big relief. That new plane will be great to see.

Hop to it, fly for life!

Keep in mind that it is rumoured that it would not be fully painted in the BWIA livery. It will be white with only the tail painted. On justplanes.com it said that they will use the second A340 to Toronto. Does anyone know if this is true?

BWIA 330

Most likely BWIA will use the 340 through out its route structure for special flight during Carnival, Christmas and summer. Remeber that the dearly departed L1011s were used in conjunction with the 737 fleet. BWIA seems to be coming out of its slump and i hope in time the staff attitude reflects that too.
