Did Qantas Every Fly To CDG Via FRA?

Sun Jan 25, 2004 1:13 am

Hi,

just saw a photo of the board showing departures in Frankfurt and it had QF005 PARIS on it. This was a morning departure of 0830am. Now I dont know how old this photo is, but did QF ever fly to Paris via FRA? For how long/which aircraft/what frequency?

QF had this flight in late 80s and early 90s. It was a daily service by then. I took it once CDG-FRA after visiting the Airshow in Le Bourget. The flight was discontinued around 1993, since then QF5 ends in FRA, arriving at 7AM, departing as QF6 at 11PM back to SYD.

StarFlyer,

I get the monthly LH newsletter too and I also saw the blackboard on the photo. If I remember correct were there a lot of other flights which doesn't operate from FRA nowadays. Wasn't there also a Pan Am flight listed on?

Nah, no Pan Am... It's on page 55. All other flights look recent (SQ26 to JFK, LH4362 to Paris).

Sometimes I still see photos of 747-200s in the old livery when people advertise: Flight operated by LH. Pathetic.

Oh, than you get another magazine. I get a small information brochure (approximately 20 sites) from LH every month, in the December issue was also such a blackboard visible above some article about slots in FRA.

Just as 'Lcagmdeleven' suggested the flights began in 1987 after and continued I thought till 1994 but I will stand corrected and it was probably most likely till 1993. It was a while after that that QF then structured their flights to Paris ex Sydney then back in 2001 the flights now depart ex Perth, However good connections are provided through Melbourne and Sydney.

...except the HF flight to POP/PUJ.

Patrick, it´s the Lufthansa Exclusive which SENs and FTLs get monthly.

Those were great times for flying around Europe with exotic airlines: I just grabbed my 5/93 OAG (the oldest I have), and it shows the following flights ex FRA with full traffic rights:

A M S :
GF 767, CX 744, PK 74M, RG 74M, RG 74D - one weekly each

(wow, I´m just getting to the ASU section: two weekly L.A.P. flights with DC8, one with 3 stops, one with 2! Anyway, don´t get me drooling, back to topic)

CPH:
SQ 744 - this was actually the first flight on Fridays, arriving one hour before the first SK/LH - quite convenient, actually

LGW:
PR 747 - two weekly
LHR:
SD 310 - one weekly

CDG:
KU 747, AR 747 - one weekly each
PR 747, QF 744, AM D1M, AI 747 - two weekly each
QF 744 - three weekly
ORY:
PK 747 - one weekly

The flight as per the summer schedule 1995.

Didn't QF want to fly to CDG via FRA again after 9/11 but in the end never restarted that routing?

And...
it was a real bargain: 222 DM for FRA-CDG-FRA in economy,
with better service than LH and AF.
