1. BA - Truly superb business class service in Europe
2. KLM - Handy for regional seemless connections to international destinations via Schipol
3. BMI - Next best airline out of Heathrow if BA is full!

Infact I don't think I have ever been booked on a flight with either KLM of BA in the last year which has been delayed and certainly not cancelled. I can't comment on BMI as I haven't flown with them since '99.

Hard question to answer! Not too sure which I most prefer and consider the best, but BA's up there, as it BMI Regional.

Within Europe, it is definitely Air One in Italy. They hand out Ice Cream Cones on their flights!

From Europe to the US, I must choose BA for quality and professionalism that can't be beat!

Although I haven´t flown on many european airlines, my best flight was aboard an Air France 777-200 GRU-CDG/CDG-GRU.
I liked specially because the flight attendants were very receptive and attencious, the food was delicious, the entertainment was good and the seat ( economy class ) was ok.

Crossair:

- leather seats

- superb meal service on all flights

- planes always half empty: lots of space to spread out

- gorgeous F/As

Too bad it no longer exists...

In the 90's when I lived in DUS, I used to fly DLT DUS-BSL. They did the best on short regional flights.

SR was the best Long Haul F/C.

None however could ever match the professionalism & class of the original Pan Am, IMHO the rest were just wanabees!

1. Swissair and Crossair. Simply the best when they were around. No other European airline, in my opinion, has been able to touch the class and sophistication that these two had, not even Swiss!

British Airways: Superlative Business Class service and attentive cabin crews.
I have never had anything less than a great flight with BA.

Finnair: This Scandinavian carrier, in my opinion, does not get the recognition it deserves. Excellent cuisine and wonderful cabin crew.

Air France: I have only flown Tempo Class on this carrier, but have always
been impressed with their service. PTV's in Tempo a very nice touch.

Aaah! Ryanair320, how could I have forgotten about Aer Lingus!? I flew them in 1999 fron BOS-SNN and my colleagues and I were up-graded to Premier Class. Very very nice flight. And loved the Irish Waterford Crystal and huge leather seats. Aaaaaaaaaah.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

This one's easy: Swiss International Air Lines

I've flown them 15 times (10 short, 5 long-haul) and all flights have been remarkable experiences. Just recently tried them out in business class and that was heaven.

F/A's have always been friendly, planes clean, good food, and always on-time. I think I've experienced one delay so far, and that was due to Heathrow's congested skies.

Austrian Airlines short-haul for in flight service and Miles & More programme.

British Airways long-haul because of the IFE

SN Brussels for punctuality and hub and Privilege programme

Lufthansa for the Miles&More programme

I have always been impressed by the service and comfort of Lauda Air (before becomming part of Austrian Airlines). Business class was the best I've had from a european carrier. Sadly, I never had the oppertunity to fly Swissair.

British Airways hs excellent IFE and the FA's treat you with respect. Always a pleasant flight with them (Oh and they're British).

Surprised no-one has mentioned Virgin, i'm going to be flyng them this or next year and everyone I have spoken to who has flown them says they are fantastic.

The only one that I have ever flown was Luftansa back in 1975. I do
remember I had a great time. It was my first ride on a 747. I usually fly Airlines
from the Middle east or US carriers.

It's SAS for me.
They just do the little things better than other carriers.
And I like CPH.

BA is also a great airline. I just don't like LGW or LHR.

I've flown on two European carriers, as follows, and their economy-class service sure beats that of any American carrier I've flown!

Aer Lingus (ORD-DUB & back in April 2002): My favorite European airline (since I'm Irish-American, please pardon my Irish bias)! Friendly, very attractive Irish flight attendants (many were red-heads) demonstrated the legendary Irish hospitality (which I also experienced in my motherland, of course). Wonderful dinner and breakfast onboard. Even the immigration officer in DUB whom I met on arrival was friendly and cheery! Upon my arrival back in ORD, one of EI's ORD station staff ladies was friendly and warmly asked how my trip was! I'd definitely fly Aer Lingus again--hopefully to move to Ireland someday!

BMI (transatlantic) (MAN-ORD May 2003): Upon boarding their colorful A330 at MAN, all of us were given complimentary bottled water. I also got a BMI amenity kit in economy, which I still have today! Wonderful onboard service with British efficiency. I got to choose from a printed menu in my seat back pocket for dinner, which was also great. MAN is also a great airport for spotting, by the way (with a rooftop spectators' deck)!
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made... (Psalm 139:14)

Air France!!! Becuase they are professional, they look after you very carefully and there transanlantic service is great!!!
And there´s no better service from AGP-DUB than City Jet (Air France franchise).

I must say Lufthansa...never had any bad experiences with them (fingers crossed). Almost always perfectly on time, or early, nice F/A, clean and tidy aircraft, and great service (on board and on the ground). I don't see why so many people hate LH as much as they do!

BA all the way, then AF. Only Euros I have flown, so can't talk about others. I must say service was excellent on BA and this was back in 1986. AF had free cognac, good sweets and friendly hosts.

Lufthansa has defenetly the best inflight service, clean cabins and polite flight attendants.

Also Air France has a good service and quality product.

I used to like KLM, but I must say that the service of KLM is going down hill, and staff have a different attitude than before.

Here is my ranking (I have only flown on economy in Europe except on the old SR -- that was on business)

Virgin - great service, nice IFE, good crew
KLM - good service, good crew
Icelandair -- efficient service

VLM -- Ok

British Airways -- economy is not at all good, IFE is lacking, and no newspapers in economy
AerLingus -- horrible

In the 1980s, I did fly Swissair and Sabena. Swissair was fantastic, while Sabena was horrible. British Caledonian was ok.

I have to start with BA as they are really professional, very relaxed and can sort out most travel problems at the drop of a hat.

Next is Air France, my favourite European airline. Great food, comfortable seats and the sexiest crew on the planet. On long haul flts in Y they have an open buffet, you can stand around, stuff your face and have a chat whilst watching the world go by at 38,000ft. Very nice!

and with that..cabin crew, seats for landing please.

My personal favourite airline is KLM...especially in business where they give out the beautiful ceramic pieces

BA is a close second, especially on domestic services throughout the continent.

Lufthansa is tops for me. Best in-flight service of any airlines I have flown, Munich and Frankfurt are well planned and best hubs I have experience (better than those in the US) and they are always on time and the entire experience is efficient, no long lines.

Best Airline:
Swiss, refreshing, they treat you with great civility, and the swiss Movenpick Ice cream a nice touch, though I'm not happy with them losing their FFP to BA

Worst Airline:
Air France, delays, dealys, delays, most clueless staff ever encountered, worst airport hub CDG (new parts maybe cathedralesque but the old terminals are just beyond repair) and best of all they manage to have my suitcases fly all over Europe without me for a week before I could get them back.

Hey Guys!

Have you ever tried CSA Czech Airlines? They are great. If fact, they are my best choice to travel within europe and Canada. Their service is great, they are ponctual, the staff is extremely courteous, their aircrafts are very clean as well. Their C class is also superb. CSA also has great fares...

To try them is to adop them! trust me.

SAS Scandinavian airlines system for me.

I love everything,
Royal Copenhagen tableware,
Orrefors glasses,
Ikea stuffs,
Dual windows in Business class toilets,
Personal TV on their A333 and A343,
Beautiful menus and wine list,
Menus are provided even in Economy class,
High safety record,
Those red engines,
etc.

It's Scandinavian!  Big grin
Let's just blame it on yields.
