Any New A380 Photos?

Wed Jan 28, 2004 6:48 am

Hi all,

Anyone know if there are any new pictures of the A380? I'm sure there are many more people out there that would like to keep an eye on how things are progressing.

While I'm on the subject, does anybody on the inside know if FedEx will operate their A380's out of London Stansted?

Trent.

Before getting the "busy" msg, I have been able to open the first link.
And it is not that innocent...
For the 747, they show the section with the top deck. As a result, you see business class seats. For the A380, they show a section in Y.
When you see those 2 pictures, which one looks more comportable?....

About the belly, for the 747, the section shows LD3 containers. In the A380, you see a pallet, that is built like a cube. As a result, you think it is the only thing you can load, and that you loose a lot of space.

Subliminal message from Associated Press to the American public: US airlines should not buy an aircraft that is less comfortable and less efficient than the old good 747...

A340600,
The doors have got to be big in order pass evacuation tests. I, for one, do not see how you can evacutate a plane that size safely in the time required. Although I love aviation, I am not sure I'd like to fly in a plane that size. Does anyone know if gates will have to be re-designed and configured to fit this aircraft, or will standard gates suffice. I can't imagine how long it will take to load and unload passengers.

The plane can be evacuated in 90 seconds as a B747 or B737. But the size difference is less then it was when the 747 was introduced

>>Subliminal message from Associated Press to the American public: US airlines should not buy an aircraft that is less comfortable and less efficient than the old good 747...<<

One of the most ridiculous and paranoid statements I've ever read on this board. More likely AP using incorrect or outdated information. How long ago was that comparison made? Before the A380 was launched I saw all kinds of speculation about the airplane that turned out wrong. Consider also the fact that mainstream news organizations rarely get their information on commercial aircraft right anyway. Subliminal message, yeah, right!

I'm looking forward to seeing the A380 in the air. I'm among those who believe the aircraft will be a success for Airbus. Unfortunately, I don't see any American carriers buying them, they have been focused on smaller planes / greater frequencies. I'd love to see one in AA's livery, though!

cheers, Ralph

"Consider also the fact that mainstream news organizations rarely get their information on commercial aircraft right anyway."

Here, here. How many times have we heard about the "Boeing A320"? I even heard a reporter here in Las Vegas say all the registration numbers start with an "N" because they're registered in Nevada.

Sad how the Americans and Boeing fans just will not accept this aircraft

Please don't take this unkindly, but if the shoe was on the other foot..... well, I think it's safe to say the reaction would be the same.

But for most of us 747 fans, there's a lot of pride for the 747. It has been one of the most significant aircraft in history, and it has held the "Queen of the Skies" title for over thirty years. In most of our eyes, it still will. To the true 747 fans, it's not just an airplane, it's a machine that is truly admired.

Long live the 747!

N754pr,

Just a word of advice--don't make assumptions and generalizations about people!!! I cannot tell you how ignorant you sound.

I'm American and a Boeing fan and I am EXCITED as hell to see the new A380!!! It doesn't matter where it is made.

Both aircraft are amazing and BOTH will have their places in history!!!!

Here Here to what Irishpower said. The A380 will be an amazing aircraft and the Europeans should be very proud of what they are accomplishing!!!!!

Of course they're going to be proud. Why shouldn't they? The A380 is being built with financing assurance from European governments not because there's a lucrative market for it, in my opinion, but largely because of pride. Sort of like a modern Concorde, although I'm sure the A380 will be more profitable than that.

Please do not make generalizations about the American public from what you see from your country. Just as people across teh world are proud of their countries and businesses, we Americans are too. With that said, it does not mean that we will be against anything Airbus and the EU manufactures just because it competes with Boeing aircraft.

I am a very proud American, strong strong supporter of Boeing, and I am excited about the Airbus A380! (imagine that...we ARE capable of appreciating things not made in the USA!) I still have some questions about the aircraft, and I am not certain I would want to fly it right away, but these questions will be answered as the production continues and the testing begins.

My biggest concern is that airlines will make this aircraft cramped and uncomfortable...but that remains to be seen...I guess it all depends on how efficient it truly is.

The main point here is that when you ASSUME things, you get ASS/U/ME.
