Pic of AA 777 on airliners.net ?

Tue Jan 05, 1999 4:58 am

I was just wondering if anyone knew if this picture
on airlines.net of a AA 777 is real. I was told by a
person at LGB (Boeing) that AA was going to get the
777 in late January. If this is real, a miracle has happened
because Boeing delivered a aircraft early! If some one
could help me out I would be grateful! And if I'm wrong,
forgive me!

Thanks!

If this picture is real, then AA is not going to introduce a new livery.
Fedex: I read it somewhere that AA and DL were talking to the Asian airlines (MH?) to take delivery of their 777s when they come off the assembly line because the Asian airlines couldn't afford them. Maybe this is one of those 777 original intended for an Asian customer?

I suspect the AA 777 might be a hoax. Look carefully, there is no "Nxxxx" registration number on the rear side of the fuselage; and there is no "American Airlines Luxury liner" caption beneath the cheatline under the cockpit window. Also, I would expect AA to take delivery of their 777 with quite a bit of fanfare. But there is nothing. If the picture is taken in Seattle, it might be a test flight by Boeing. But the photo's caption says it's taken in DFW. Strang?

Just checked with someone in Dallas & he was baffled by this. There was nothing on AA's web page either.

I just did the same thing Laura did and I paged
my AA pilot friend! The people at AA told me that
they plan to have a roll out ceramony at DFW at
the end of the month. She said that AA will also have
many press messages! She wouldn't tell me if it's going
to have a new livery or not! I think photographer should
fess up. What do u think?

On my way back from my vacation, I was told by an AA flight
attendant that AA just took delivery of its first 777. She also
said that they were not going to introduce a new color scheme
for the simple reason that the current scheme is cost effective
and easy to maintain. (She also said that the AA 777 would
do some proving runs to Australia ...). I found it very hard to
believe, but this picture could very well be real. Having said that
I am indeed surprised at the lack of any news on this 777
-rather strange (i remember continental's 777s arrival was just
about everywhere).
I've flown on 9V-SPK.

It is a fake, I'm sure of it. Together with the AA plane, another picture was posted by the same photographer, showing a B777 in the old United livery. The B777 never flew in the old livery!!!
I must confess that the photo's do LOOK real, and it very amusing.
He should make one with an Eastern B777 or a Braniff A340...
Shiek!

I think I am going to call it a phony. Not a bad job though.

The aircraft is pretty harsh to the background. and the bottom aft fuselage looks like it has been chopped to form the tail (767???) If it was a real on the slope wouldn't look as pixeled because the background color would have blended with the aircraft. It just looks a lot smoother. I also noticed that the tailplane casts a shado to the rear of the aircraft while the main body of the aircraft appears to be casting a shadow to the front. There is also no darkening and the part of the engine cowling that is under the wing.

Now moving of to Dealy Plaza...........
OBAMA-WORST PRESIDENT EVER....Even SKOORB would be better.

I called AA and they said they are coming at the end of this month. I also search the photographer and this is his only photo at Dallas and all the rest are from Portugal. I think he might of bought a model and put it in his back yard law down and took the shot. But it is a fake I think.

The first 777 for American should be N770AN line number 185. Line number 184 (a 312 for Singapore) was scheduled for delivery in December. One of the press releases said that Boeing delivered some airplanes early to make their goal of 550 deliveries. So it is possible.

I agree that the photo looks wrong without a registration number. Would it be required on both sides to fly the aircraft? If not with Boeing being in a hurry maybe they only used the test registration on the left side.

JZ your right this is no luxury liner and I also
noticed that there is no American Flag on the
top of the tail! The tail is subject, Where are the
rudder creases and where is the bubble on top
for satellite tracking. I find this hard to belive that
AA would not make a big deal out of this!!

Fakes Ahoy

Tue Jan 05, 1999 6:08 am

I might have beleived it, except I checked the other photos which that photographer had submitted. The only other one was a picture of a United 777. It was in the old color scheme --- blatantly false. You have to get up pretty early in the morning to.....

TAD you can't fly a aircraft in the United States
with out registration numbers! Its illegal! If it
where to happen they would pay big fines. I
agree with A330 and his great research along
with JZ! It's a fake and I think this photo and his
others (fakes?) should be taken off! What do u
think?

I agree based on A330s comments. I was just noting that being the next line # it is possible that it might have been delivered.

But if this guy also did the 777 in old UA colors then is is very likely a fake.

add a fake section

Tue Jan 05, 1999 6:46 am

Your right the repository dosn't need to have manufactured photographs on the site.

But wouldn't it be neat if there was a page to submit doctored photos of aircraft in schemes that you would like to see????

Just a thought

This is another fake (copied by the same person). Only us and continental own the 777 so far. anyway, you can tell its fake! Look at the back, next to the last dorr, you'll notice 2 windows AFTER the last door (4L-R). These ARE NOT present on a real 777, but on the A300 they are.

RE: definately fake...

Tue Jan 05, 1999 7:30 am

That is definately fake. All websites (including Boeing's) don't show any AA 777 deliveries till 1/99. Look at the reflection on the top of the fuse, there are clouds on it, but no clouds in the sky! I have seen some programs that create aircraft and put them on a background that look real (Ames Research center I think).

BTW, check out Lawerance Feir's pics. Most are fake, of real aircraft, but not real backgrounds. They are really nice.

Anyway, look at the size and color of that tale. Its cream white, not the normal silver, and the ail is SOOO small!

Pic have different door configs.

As FAUnited7 mentioned the AA 777 pic has a windows after the rear right door, the UA 777 in the old livery does not have windows after the the rear right door. I have to admitt at first I was had!

RE: Where is my credit?

Hey all! Where is the credit for noticing this stupid
poorly done fake job! hehe! This was a great laugh
and was fun. But to be serious for a moment, I think
that this photographer shouldn't be allowed to admit photos
to this site unless there is a fake section ! hehe So much
for being serious! I think Paul and the airliners.net staff
are doing the right thing! Let's just hope this doesn't happen
again! I will be watching!

Take Care,
ALL!

FedEx, you should get all the credit for discovering this! Way to go! I know of at least 15 fakes on here. Some of the are quite good. I think they should be allowed, but only if in the remarks it says something about it (ex: Image Computer Generated, Photo Digitally Retouched, etc.)

Look under Feir. His pics are all fakes. He takes real pics of aircraft and real backgrounds, then puts them together. They are cool!

fake triple 7

Tue Jan 05, 1999 10:12 am

The AA didn't raise as much of a flag as the UA a/c...I thought "why on earth would UA paint a 777 in old colors?"

I do believe, though, that there should be some mention in the caption that the image is c.g. I've only posted a couple of my numerous photos on the site, and I never really thought about altering them. What a field day you could have :) What a great thing it would be to see a Braniff A340.
