We discussed this in house for a bit remembering the days when UA
flew an A319 to IAD
and a couple of 737's a day. Those flights were full. I belive UA
's internation service took a beating when it was reduced to J-41's. We still post very respectable numbers for the CRJs. One can only hope the CRJ700 is here to stay.
I understand that a short route like PHL
can not be run profitably with aircraft like the 737 or 319. But if we can fill them then a larger RJ
should always have been what was used.
Yes our 757's were pulled down to just one going out in the morning. and arriving in the evening from ORD
. However, this is our slowest time of the year. Hopefully in the later spring schedules the 757's will return, but looking at future schedules it dosen't look good. Once again inventory management gives us what we need at exactly the wrong time.
