Mesa CRJ700 To PHL For UAX

Thu Jan 29, 2004 1:13 pm

Mesa will begin to replace ACA to IAD from PHL on Feb23. Begining with a 2 cabin CRJ700 on the 635am flight and the last trip from IAD at night for the overnighter.

Interestingly, both UA and ACA are being tightlipped about the actual date for a full ACA pull out. Supervisors say there is alot of intensive legal menuvering going on. About what I can't even guess.

I work as a fueler over by ACA, AW at ORD. Mesa just started flying in here about a month or so ago with the CRJ700...(2 class.....BEAUTIFUL AIRCRAFT). Trans states is also flying in here more and more everyday. Once ACA pulls out there will be plunty of traffic to fill there gaps.

Excellent, the sooner the better, now MESA will have a mini hub in PHL, IAD, and CLT, along with some DCA flying also.

No one knows the real deal when/how ACA will end flying as United Express.
Rumor has it that the props might stay operating a little longer than the CRJ's, or it will be a gradual conversion.

At first it appeared that SCE (State College) would disapper from the United network once ACA left. Now Skywest is going to take over the IAD-SCE service, with CRJ's, but probably a drop in frequency. They just came by here the other week and dropped of some Skywest ground equipment for when the station converts from ACA to Skywest at a yet to be determined date.

This is great news...i guess the IAD-PHL market has picked up as of late. Used to be at 4 J41's now were at 5 CRJ's and now the CR7. Will ACA drop flts as Mesa adds flts on the route?

O/T...UALPHLCS what is happening with UA 757's at PHL. I thought we were doing pretty well with the 2 daily from LAX and SFO, now those flts are back to 319's. Now i know of at least 1 757 from ORD. Any rumors of UA potentially cutting back ORD-PHL because of the flight reductions at ORD and maybe adding bigger aircraft?

We discussed this in house for a bit remembering the days when UA flew an A319 to IAD and a couple of 737's a day. Those flights were full. I belive UA's internation service took a beating when it was reduced to J-41's. We still post very respectable numbers for the CRJs. One can only hope the CRJ700 is here to stay.

I understand that a short route like PHL-IAD can not be run profitably with aircraft like the 737 or 319. But if we can fill them then a larger RJ should always have been what was used.

Yes our 757's were pulled down to just one going out in the morning. and arriving in the evening from ORD. However, this is our slowest time of the year. Hopefully in the later spring schedules the 757's will return, but looking at future schedules it dosen't look good. Once again inventory management gives us what we need at exactly the wrong time.
