JAL Renewal Of Ex JAS Fleet

Sat Jan 31, 2004 12:15 am

I wonder what JAL will replace its acquired former JAS A300s and MD80s with? Perhaps we'll see an order for the B767-400ER and B717-200/-300? After all isn't JAL very PRO BOEING? Just my $0.02 worth

I think I once read they're toying with the thought of following ANA's decision to buy 737NGs eventually. However, also A320s are possible of course. As for the busses, I believe they have just about ordered enough 763s (eight in July 03) to get rid of the oldest A300s. Furthermore they are supposed to be a strong candidate for the 7E7 as an eventual replacement for the 306s and the 763s.

They know better than grounding brand new A300-600Rs. Many were delivered in 2002.

Boring 737NG for narrow body, and 763 already for 300-B4. 300-600 by 7E7. My 2 cents.

Weren't many A300-600 ordered and delivered until a few years ago?

I think JAL is planning on keeping the JAS's A300-600R fleet as they are still valuable domestic workforce in the medium market along with B777 and B767s.

After JAL is complete with the merger with JAS, they will go through a phase of fleet simplification and A300-B4 models will more than likely be retired along with DC-10s and MD-11s by sometime in 2006.

I believe JAL is delaying large orders for new aircraft (such as the 737NG) for now. Their debt seems to be a higher priority for them. I think we'll eventually see a 737NG order, just not right now.

Reportedly the MD-81/87/90 will remain for another 5 to 10 years in the fleet.

JASs newest AB6s will not be retired until the B 7E7s arrive in large numbers in JALs domestic fleet. At that time the AB6s and B 767s will make way for the B 7E7s.

However JASs older A300B4s will definitely I believe be gone by the end of this year.

If JAL-JAS are interested in selling some A300-600R versions delivered after 1990, then give PIA a call immediately as they need a similar sized aircraft to replace around half a dozen AB4s of theirs.
