I like Varig, great service, though they need to work on their on time record, it's not so great. 6 flights and all late, some over an hour..

You forgot to mention LB also takes the B-737-300, B-767-300ER to GRU;

5L (Aero Sur) Bolivia also takes B-727-200's tp GRU.

How about BRA (lowcost division of RG)?

I believe that Continental's flights to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are both 767-200ERs. They might substitute in a 764 occasionally, but as far as I know the Newark and the Houston flights are both 762s. I know at one point they were flying separate daily 767-400ERs down from Newark to both cities, with GIG continuing onto Belo Horizonte, but since then they've dropped the direct flight to Rio and route pax through GRU.

I believe that Continental's flights to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are both 767-200ERs.

No, the flight CO93 IAH-GRU-GIG is scheduled with 767-400. Only flight CO31 EWR-GRU is scheduled with 767-200ER.

MEA will announce GRU in March. It will be operated on A330s and will be via Dakar (DKR).

No word on the frequency, but I heard recently 2x weekly. That might change though.

You forgot about Avianca and Aerosur.

Swiss is expected to drop GRU service this year.

Qantas has no plans whatsoever to flight to GRU.

Same thing for Virgin!

South African will be upgrading their service with a A343 and daily flights in 2005.

Swiss is expected to drop GRU service this year.

No, it's CONFIRMED that Swiss will continue flying to Brazil. They will only stop serving Buenos Aires. The flight will be ZRH-GRU-ZRH. No longer EZE flights from ZRH...

There's also Ocean Air that serves GRU with the EMB-120.

They even fly SP Congonhas (SP), Brazil">CGH) to SP Guarulhos (GRU). People say its cheaper to fly from downtown SP to GRU then to take a cab.

Air Canada service into GRU is on the 763 not the 762.

Worked first time into your city the other day, and had a great stay.

Dining was definitely a major event.

Where did you get info that EL AL will fly to GRU soon , and with 772?
I heard Brazilian Authorities dont want LY to make schedule flights to Brazil, because of security measures.

Qantas? Emirates? Virgin? MEA? Are these confirmed?

As far as I know:
Qantas - never heard of that, a rumour?
Emirates - Sao Paulo was listed on their website as a potential future destination for their A340-500, but that's all I think
Virgin - never heard of that, a rumour?
MEA - as BA stated, not confimred yet, but it will be a A330 if it happens

Again, I don't claim to know everything, quite on the contrary, just wanted to know whether these airlines are confirmed to come GRU or whether there is an element of speculation in this list.

you can add a LH A343 to that list. they´ll increase GRU to 10x weekly with the three additional flights being operated by the 343 and not continuing to GIG.

I read in a separate thread that AM sometimes uses its 763 to GRU. I was looking for the schedule in SkyTeam's website since I am flying from MX), Mexico">MEX to GRU on Wednesday, Feb. 4, and I found that, allegedly, the plane that AM will use that day is indeed the 763 (it seems that due to weight restrictions mandated by MX), Mexico">MEX's altitude, the 763 is never used for the MX), Mexico">MEX-MAD and MX), Mexico">MEX-CDG routes, but rather for the MX), Mexico">MEX-SCL route and, on occasion, the MX), Mexico">MEX-GRU one).

If MX starts flying its own aircraft to GRU (that would be very cool), expect MX to use one of the 763's they are leasing from SK.
Next flights: MEX-LAX AM 738, LAX-PVG DL 77L, SHA-PEK CA 789, PEK-PVG CA A332, PVG-ORD MU 77W, ORD-MEX AM 738

Eddie, I have been flown MEX-SAO-MEX in the last months, and allways on a B762. I also had a ticket for Feb 4th (Thursday) on the route GRU-MEX and my schedule mentioned the B763 (for the first time I thought I was going to fly on the only AM B763, but unfortunately I had to postpone my flight one week. So, did you fly on feb 4th? Do you live in Sao Paulo? It would be nice to meet you.

TAP will operate daily non-stop flights flights to Rio de Janeiro, Salvador São Paulo, Recife and Fortaleza, offering a total of 38 weekly nonstops to Brazil. Rio de Janeiro and Fortaleza have been on a 6 weekly basis each, but will go to daily flights in March. Natal will be served with 3 weekly flights.

To Sao Paulo and Rio TAP operates A340
To Recife, Fortaleza, Salvador and Natal operates A310.

Does LanPeru fly directly from LIM to GRU? I only found codeshare flights from LIM to EZE or SCL with connecting flights to GRU with other carriers.

LanAlemania

GRU-Lima service is provided by TACA Peru with either A320 or A319..

I think it is a daily flight, and due the odd operating hours (ARR: 5:30/DEP 6:30, in the morning) most local enthusiast don´t even know about it.

Both Avianca and Aeromexico sometimes change the aircraft without notice, so most of the time both operate with 767-200s, but depending on season and pax load they might come with 757(Avianca) or 767-300s (Aeromexico).

Cubana also has a weekly flight with IL62s

On future airlines, never heard anything about El Al, and this security reason laid by our CAA sounds non-sense to me, specially because El Al already made some ad-hoc charters to GIG and SSA.

Emirates might be here sometime in the future and I´m already looking forward to see MEA back in town. Indeed I would love to see QF here, but I don't expect that anytime soon, they aren't even flying to Argentina with own equipment, and AR already has flights going down under...

Two airlines that surely would be welcome, would be Virgin, Korean (back) or Asiana and Singapore..

Hi Ricardo. It was indeed a 763ER what took me from MEX to GRU Wednesday night (arriving noon on Thursday). I live in Mexico City, I went to Brazil mainly because of the "puente del 5 de febrero" to visit some friends in Vitória, ES, and to attend a wedding with them near Riberao Preto in SP. I am now back in MEX (arrived a few hours ago in an almost full 762ER). It would have been nice to meet you there. Next time you come to Mexico City let me know.
Next flights: MEX-LAX AM 738, LAX-PVG DL 77L, SHA-PEK CA 789, PEK-PVG CA A332, PVG-ORD MU 77W, ORD-MEX AM 738

It would be the smartest thing for QF to drop SCL from the service and fly to Brasil. The majority of pax between AKL and SCL are Brasilian pax. Don't know much about planes but if QF where to fly SYD-AKL-GRU (example) the passengers from other Latin countries could fly to GRU instead of the other way around!

Lan Alemania,

TA 028/029 LIM-GRU-LIM daily with 319s.

Australian and Chilean friends,

What if we had a QF/LA codeshare all the way : SYD-ALK-SCL-GRU

All would profit with that

True Marcopolo, although then there would be no need for QF to serve GRU as there could be a continuation of the SYD-AKL-SCL flight.
But either way I speculate that it is all rumours. Same thing occured when QF flew directly to EZE. There where rumours about a continuation of the flight to GRU, but nothing did eventuate. (goverment intervention??) Who knows??
As far as I am aware, the only other sector that QF has a code share with Lan is from SCL to EZE nothing to/from Brasil.
