Aeroflot Tu 204

Tue Feb 03, 2004 3:23 am

Hi,

I was looking at a book the other day and it had a picture of an Aeroflot Tu-204. However, when I checked the Aeroflot website there was no mention of this aircraft.

Did they operate the Tu204? if so, how many?
Do they still have them?
What routes did they/ do they fly?
and, if they got rid of them, why?

Thanks for any help.

I would like to know since the big push now seems to be for Airbus.

When the Tu 204 was being developed by Tupolev back in the late 80s, the prototypes were painted in Aeroflot colours. Back then, there was no other airline other than Aeroflot in the Soviet Union.

However, Aeroflot operated the type in its cargo version for a short time but never had it for passenger services.

What kind of range does it have? I've always thought of it more as a 757ski, partly because of its engines.

In fact, Tu214 (a modification of basic Tu204) now flies on Aeroflot routes to Bombei, Ulan-Bator and some other destinations. This plane belongs to "Rossija".

Range of Tu214 is about 6500 km. Tu204 - about 1 thousand km less.
