New Tower Proposed For LGA, Delayed

President George W. Bush's proposed budget would decrease funding for and delay construction of a taller and better equipped control tower at LaGuardia Airport, Federal Aviation Administration officials say.

Construction had been scheduled to begin in June and be completed in May of 2007. The length of the delay was unclear yesterday...

Who knew?! I didn't even know there were plans to replace the 'lighthouse', so I have no clue what to say. Granted it would ease the congestion a bit, but with the slot rule to be lifted in a few years, would it really be necessary?
