It's nice to see a community support an airport for a change. Suburban Airport in Laurel, MD, was threatened by a developer who wanted to build of 600 homes and condos on the site.
Local pilots and members of the community both rejected the plan and pushed strongly for the airport to remain open. Local residents are not bothered by the relatively small amount of traffic the airport has and fear that development on the site could crowd schools and streets.
