Baby Stroller On BA PHX-LHR-GLA

Wed Feb 04, 2004 6:17 am

I'm traveling with my wife and newborn 4 month old child on BA from PHX - LHR - GLA, ( I have a few questions).

1. We plan to bring a baby stroller with us and we hoping they let us have it back in LHR so we can push him to our connecting flight (from Terminal 4 to Terminal 1).

2. Will they let us have it back when we get off the plane in LHR or will they only let us have back in GLA?

3. Also why do they charge for an infant when they don't even assign a seat for under 2 years old? Do they typically let you have three seats for us(B777)?
It would be a long 11 hour flight with him on our laps!

Thanks ahead of time if anyone's knows some info or experience traveling on BA Transatlantic with a newborn!

I worked at BA in PHX....it's a great flight...and a nice 777 too! They will give you back the stroller in LHR, or they may have room to store it on board, just ask when you get there. Infants, though not assigned a seat, need a ticket because you have to pay taxes for them. Hope you enjoy the flight!

I just traveled with my 20 month the start of Jan all by myself I took her umbrella stroller with me and used it on my layovers they will check it at gate and you get it back when you get off plane..

when i talked to delta they said they charge for international flights but if you were flying within the states i know its 50% of adult fare if you want them to have their own seat or sit in lap for free.. it was just my daughter and i and we booked really empty flights and picked our seats away from others and she had her own seat the whole time

Thanks for all the info!!!

I know that we can pick our seats 24 hours prior to the flight, but is there anyway to see how full it is now??

They only charge you for your infant if you are going to put the child in a seat. I do hope you write a trip report about your flights.

Pretty much the same as above..........We flew with our 7-month old YVR-YYZ-CDG recently and asked to have the stroller during our layover. It depended on how the ticket agent tagged the stroller. Normally it would have been 'checked' through to Paris, but when we got off the plane in YYZ it was waiting at the gate. It's the last thing put in the hold by the baggage handlers and the first thing taken off. I suppose depending on the aircraft/airline, it may actually be put in the cabin somewhere if there's room.

And apparently children, even if they're not taking up a seat officially, still have to pay some international flight tax, hence the charge. I'm sure the FA's will try to sit you where there's a third seat open. Keep in mind our experience was all Air Canada.

Once you book and ticket your reservation, call BA and RQST a bassinet. If seating control in LON is able to HK a BSCT, you will have some of the best seats in Y, bulkheads.

Jeff,

I would love to see a trip report on this. I was traveled from three months old, so I often wonder what it is like to travel with a little, little one. I have traveled with my godson who is like 8 and he is fine. He is a very well traveled young man and loves to fly. A future a.neter!
