This is becoming an increasingly interesting question, since the interiors are becoming increasingly non-standard with the TWA aircraft, and some other tweakings within AA
As mentioned above, all 737 and 777 aircraft were delivered with the new interior/seats. All of the 3-class A300s have been reconfigured to 2-class, and in the process, got new interiors but not new seats. They just got new seat covers to match the new interior. The remaining A300s and all 757 aircraft are slowly getting new seat covers, but not new seats. This process is happening as needed or during C-checks, so it will be some time before all 757s and A300s have new seat covers.
took delivery of new 757 aircraft last year. They all feature the new interiors, but not new seats, nor the new seat covers. Consequently, I have been on some older 757s that have new interiors, too, but not new seat covers. I am not sure why this is. Some feature new bulkhead covers and carpeting, while the sidewalls remain the same. Some have new laminates on them, too, and some have newly refurbished lavatories. I have a question into our employee questions and answers department through flight service, hopefully they can give more details.
The TWA 757s will remain as is until retired in 2007. A couple of things are happening to the TWA MD
-80s as they are brought over to the AA
operating certificate. Some aircraft are getting the typical first class seat found in AA
80s, some are keeping their seats and getting new seat covers. Same goes for coach. Some aircraft are getting typical AA
80 seats, and others are just getting new seat covers. This has become confusing to some pax as the AA
seats have the power ports, but the TWA aircraft are not equipped to support power ports, at least not yet. The company said a while back they are evaluating whether or not to install, or at least make operational, power ports on the TWA MD
So long story short there are four possible interiors you could encounter on a 757, four possible interiors on the MD
-80 and two on the A300.
When I hear back from the company, I will be sure to post their reply here.
