Cardiff Terrace

Thu Feb 05, 2004 6:00 pm

Just wondering if the spectators terrace at CWL is still open? I noticed on the airport plan on the website that there is one, but sometimes they are closed for security reasons without prior notice. I'm going down to CWL for the weekend from EDI.

Pretty sure it's closed  Sad

Some limited views from inside the terminal, next to nothing from the departure lounge (airside)

Generally CWL is poor for spectating compared to a few years ago when there were good views to be had from inside the terminal and the terrace

Building work has also has a negative affect

A walk on some of the roads around the airport will give you chance of seeing some of the apron

Plus the only thing you'll see at CWL are Air Wales ATRs and BMI Baby 737s  Wink/being sarcastic
When you hear the noise of the Tartan Army Boys, we'll be coming down the road!

Cheers anyway. I'll take a walk around the terminal on Sunday and see what I can find.

In all seriousness... Jamie (CKT789) may have the opportunity to see exotic operators like Britannia, MyTravel, and flyBE ....  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Hi..

The viewing area is closed...

On the weekend you should see some ATR42-300 of Air Wales, BMI 733 + 735, BY 752, MYT320, FR 732, KLM F70's, FLYBE 146's (charter) and some other odd charters to the European ski resorts!

Hope that helps..

Regards..

I visited CWL last year in September and the viewing area was closed. The lady at the information desk told me it was closed during winter. Well, British winter starts early  Laugh out loud

All in all, CWL was still worth the visit. As already mentioned in some other replies, there are some good views if you walk around the roads near the airport. The restaurant in the departure building also offers some (more or less) good views. Enjoy your trip!
