They probably had a very good deal from the lessers for the first batch of A310 planes and the decision was possibly taking around the same time they decided to go with the A332/333 to complete the fleet with the older L1011s
And now, they seem to be satisfied since they will be getting at least 4 more A310s in the next few months to replace L1011s and then have a small but all Aibus fleet. As for the A320s, they only have two right now and they are owned by Star airlines, a french subsidary of AT
in France. In return, Star ailines got an AT
A332 for the winter.
Regarding the A310, I had the BADluck to fly on one of them last summer (YMX
) on a flight that took off more than 6 hours late (take off was scheduled at 11PM but was delayed until 5 AM
because of an apparently minor problem with the breaking system). Had to spend the entire night in Mirabel... So my first and only impression of the A310 is rather bad...
