How Many People Are Now Working In The U.S. Sky?

Sat Feb 07, 2004 10:27 am

Most of the people go to work every day and spend a day of work in the ground.
I wonder how many people (Crew members) are working in the sky in a given Monday, or any week day, in the US.?

Well, I can tell you at this very moment (08:35 PM in New York) there are currently 4354 IFR flights airborne in US airspace. That includes commercial and private. You can draw your own conclusions from there.

Figure 2 pilots per flight and and average of 6-7 flight attendants.
