What's Up With NW 1884 Today?

Sat Feb 07, 2004 11:32 am

Does anybody know whats was going on with NW1884 today, DTW-MHT? According to Flytecomm.com and the NWA website, the flight diverted to BGR due to unexpected maintenance.
Also, flytecomm.com, is showing that the flight went to KCON (Concord, NH) To my knowledge, the most exciting aircraft you'd see usually see there is the occasional Twin piston.
If anybody could tell me what occurred with this flight today, I'd appreciate it. Most interested in the supposed divert to CON of all places.

Yeah, I saw that too. It's been sleeting and snowing here in ASH-MHT-CON all day long. The ILS to runway 35 at MHT is out of service and some flights destined to BOS and MHT actually diverted to BGR! There was a really packed holding pattern at GDM for a few hours.

Its been snowing pretty heavy here in Portland all day too. Delta diverted to BGR. CON just doesnt make any sense though. I wasnt even sure there was an FBO there. I checked the airport info though, and it does have a 6,000 ft runway. Makes me wonder if there was an in flight emergency, or just an error. Just curious

HHmm NW only flies RJ to BGR from DTW. Why would a flight going to MHT be diverted to BGR?

Yeah, they divert to places rather far away sometimes. I know MSP gets some of ORD's heavies traffic when the weather is crappy in ORD, and a lot of NWA flights to MSP get diverted to Fargo (FAR) frequently when the weather craps out.

It depends, sometimes they re-file their flight plan in flight. One time a COEX E-145 was going EWR-DAB and had to divert to JAX, they were over the Ormond VOR so flight tracker showed the E-145 flight going to Ormond Beach (GA airport) to JAX.
Experience is what you get when what you thought would work out didn't!
