Spotting @ SXM

Sat Feb 07, 2004 12:09 pm

I know this is WAY early, but I'm going to be on a cruise Feb/05 that has an all day stop in St. Marteens. I know that my butt will be on the beach watching the planes land and take off. My question is, how far is the airport/beach from the port/dock that the cruise ships come in?

From cruise port (Phillipsburg, N,A) to the airport. Via cab is @20 mins or about 7 miles. Traffic can be bad sometimes. Its a fun time really you go up over a big hill and have a great view of Simpson Bay, then down past the yacht club (look for the yacht limitess its owner by Les Wexner owner of the limited brand of stores, its there in the winter and summers in the med i.e monte carlo, and is 300+ feet long). Tell the cab driver you want to go to sunset beach bar and he will take you there. Can't remember the exact fare. But since the cabs are unmetered watch yourself. SSBB (Sunset beach bar) is next to the runway and is in some pictures of the planes landing. Great place. Great people, great planes, great fun. Dont forget that women can drink for free at the bar (if they are topless) I'll try to post some pics when I go there in early March.
Sorry I moved from SXM, looking for a new house on Anguilla now!
