Au Revoir YYZ-UK / YYZ-YUL-CDG ZOOM/Intair Program

Mon Feb 09, 2004 1:09 am

This article is published in Logominde/Express Voyages this week end. The article is in French. It basically says that the tour operator Intair and ZOOM broke their alliance resulting in cancellations of YYZ/YUL-CDG and YYZ-UK flights for the summer of 2004.

The president of ZOOM Hugh Boyle, is apparently getting ready to open a "Go Travel Direct" branch in Montreal. Who knows, maybe we will see the YUL-CDG flights operating. The flights could be sold by Go Travel Direct instead of Intair.

Very interesting. Mr. Boyle obviously has found a successful formula and I believe he is in this business for the long-haul. It can't be easy to out-maneuver established charter airlines like Skyservice and Air Transat.

Nuno, Go Travel Direct (the mother company of ZOOM Airlines) first started its operation in YOW chartering First Air B-727's. A year later they opened a branch in YYZ. Another year later we saw Hugh Boyle starting his own airline (ZOOM) and operating flights from many major Canadian cities. The only market Hugh has not contemplated until now is the YUL-France market. I would not be surprised to see Go Travel Direct open an office in Montreal and sell YUL-France flights very soon. This is probably what's going to happen.....The day we found out (This past Friday) that Zoom/Intair agreement was over....The ZOOM caterer found out that all YUL-CDG flights would be operating "turnaround" in YUL for the summer of 2004. Get my point?
Intair was selling the flights YYZ-YUL-CDG. By the way, FYI, Intair Transit is a major tour operator/seat consolidator based in Montreal with offices in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto.......

We are talking about flights being commercialised by Intair, a Canadian tour operator. I even mentioned in another post that ZOOM will be operating once weekly GLA-YOW-VRA-YOW-GLA same plane service this coming summer.
