UA DEL-LHR Y Discountinued?

Mon Feb 09, 2004 1:45 am

I remember UA used to operate LHR-DEL-HKG with a B763, wonder why this was discontinued? I'm sure this is very lucrative...

So it's business class only? I know some UA 747s have a lot of business class (JFK-NRT) but they're still three classes. I think your information is wrong. LH are the only airline I know of without Y on some routes (ie Munich - Chicago).

Cedarjet:

"Y" discontinued I think short for WHY discontinued?

Same as any route cancellation - no profit generated. In the case of the UA flight high loads, low/no yield.

Cedarjet- I think he was talking about why it was discontinued, not why is there no Y class.

I thought the LHR-DEL route was part of UA's around the world flight. I thought it went something like IAD-LHR-DEL-HKG-LAX-IAD and the other way around. Not 100% sure though if that was the exact routing. Anyway I think the around the world routes were discontinued after 9/11. I think the route also was operated with a 744. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
