Pacific Fragmenting-going For Smaller Planes

Mon Feb 09, 2004 4:57 am

Just returned from a trip to Asia. Flew LAX-TPE-SIN on Singapore Airlines 777 and back SIN-SEL-SFO on another 777. Looks like the Pacific is fragmenting and 777 is taking over some of the routes. Other airlines like ANA and Korean are also operating the big twin over the Pacific. Also it looked like SIA's 777 had two classes rather than three. Anyway I think the new 777-300ER might be replacing 744 over the Pacific also in the next few years. With regarding to Airbus, it seems like Cathay,China Eastern and China Airlines are using the A340 on the Pacific.
