Glad to see CO brought this flight back, this complements their EWR-TUS service which they also recently restored.

"Albuquerque International Sunport" - are they kidding? Sunport?!! It's kind of apt that this flight goes to Newark Liberty I guess.

You couldn't make it up.

My only guess would be to improve fleet utilization.

Lighten up Cedarjet - New Mexico (and the Albuquerque area) are known for the amount of sunshine they receive. The New Mexico state flag is a stylized Zia sun. They're just playing on that - just as I bet your handle is somewhat a play on words or a reference to something connected with you.

Life is a lot more fun when you take it a lot less seriously . . .  Big thumbs up

Maybe there is only demand for a once-a-week flight. What type of aircraft is it being flown with, anyway? A 735 or a 73G? I doubt it could fill a 738.

Back in 2000 or so they had this flight nonstop ABQ-EWR. It was EWR-ABQ on Saturdays and back to EWR on Sunday. I took it a number of times and it was always full, even in first class. It was doing so well there was talk of making it daily and along came 9/11 and the flight was dropped. I am glad to see it is returning and hopefully in time it will become daily.
I strongly believe there is a market there for a daily flight. There are lots and lots of transplanted people from New York and New Jersey in New Mexico. All of them moving around back and forth well below radar. I am not taking inti consideration the wealthy Fortune 500 executives etc. that have homes in the Santa Fe area.
On a final note the WN nonstop BWI-ABQ flight is one of the top ten most profitable ones for WN. There is lots of untapped potential here.

Our flight in TUS was daily during the holidays and then switched to Sat. only. It has been very light, only about 20-30 passengers going out, though half or more coming in. Of course this is a very light travel period anyhow. They were going to axe it completely after Xmas, but my manager said they would fly it on Saturdays because the plane sat in EWR all day doing nothing. Might as well generate some revenue! It comes in from EWR and then turns around and goes right back.

I can understand ABQ getting it from May on, becuase they get more traffic in the summer and we get more traffic in the winter.

The flight is operated with a B735 and unfortunately does not have any IFE, though there is food service! When the flight was full we could only have about 95 people on it, due to weight restrictions.
