Press release

Finnair expands Asian frequencies
Beijing daily, Shanghai five times a week

Finnair is increasing its Asian frequencies in the coming summer. The airline is adding a sixth MD-11 aircraft to its fleet at the end of spring, helping it to further expand its flights to China. At the beginning of April, Beijing flights will become daily and at the start of June, Shanghai will see five weekly flights. Hong Kong has three weekly flights, so Finnair has a total of 15 weekly operations to China.

"Finnair offers Northern European leisure and business travellers the best connections to China. Especially Scandinavian business passengers will have an even easier time of planning trips to Shanghai with Finnair once we fly there almost every single day. Chinese business and leisure passengers appreciate the fact that all our Shanghai flights have excellent connections to our ever expanding European network," says VP Network Strategies and Management Petteri Kostermaa.

The number of Finnair's Asian flights has almost doubled in the past two years. The company flies daily to Bangkok and from there four times a week to Singapore and three times a week to Hong Kong. In Japan, Finnair flies twice weekly to Tokyo and thrice to Osaka. And as of April the airline will have daily frequencies to Beijing and starting June, five weekly flights to Shanghai.
