What's With All The New SEA-Hawai'i Service?

Wed Feb 11, 2004 2:13 am

OK guys.. I've notced lately that there has been a spate of new service from Seattle to the Islands; does anyone know the reasoning why? ATA and AA just announced new service, in addition to the existing NW and HA service. By my count that makes 4 airlines. I can't believe there's that much of a market from SEA.

Any input would be appreciated, thanks!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

You can't figure out why people in cloudy, rainy, depressing Seattle wouldn't want to fly to Hawaii?? Come on.

Seriously though, it is a high yield market.....and airplanes are usually full to and from. So...ATA, Hawaiian, and NW are all smart enough to add more flights. Simply put, the demand is there.

I haven't seen that announcement yet. It seems a bit doubtful to me.

I think the annoucement is SEA-OGG on AA, with 752's.

The AA stuff out of SEA is purely untrue RUMOR.
The announcement is for AA to fly SFO-OGG with a 757

Right now SEA only gets one daily 757, and it turns directly around to JFK.
I highly doubt you see AA enter the SEA-Hawaii market.

I think this is great new for the pacific northwest as a whole...From what I have heard this region is way underserved and maybe these new additions will fill some of the void. I just hope within the next five years Portland will recieved some of these additional services to the Hawaii also...time will tell...

I wonder if the fact Seattle is about the furthest west city in the lower 48 states has anything to do with the increase.
