MUC Summer Schedule Changes

Wed Feb 11, 2004 6:02 pm

ok here is a little list about the changes in MUC for the summer schedule 2004 compared to summer 2003:

(kudos to flymunich@mucforum.de)

First the bad news: (number of flights per week)
BMIbaby -11
SIA Cargo -3
Air Mauritius -1
Olympic -7,
Aer Lingus -2,
SN Brussels -5
EasyJet -7,
Air Seychelles -1
China Eastern -2

Now the added flights:
Air Alp's to Bolzano +6
SATA to Ponta Delgada +1
Icelandair to Keflavik +1
RAM to Agadir +1
Fairline to Graz +8
Duo Airways to Edinburgh +6
Delta to ATL +7
Thai Intl. to BKK +1 (possibly +2 later in the summer)
Air Transat to YYZ +1
Qatar Airways to Doha and Vienna +7
GermanWings to CGN +7
SAS to CPH +7
LOT to WAW +7
LOT to Poznan +7
V-Bird to Niederrhein +27
Aegean to ATH +7
Aegean to Kavala +1
Sibirair to Moscow, Novosibirsk +5
Pulkovo to LED, Moscow +3
Air Astana to Alma Ata +2
Etihad to AUH +3
Tarom to Sibiu, Cluj +9
Carpatair to TSR +6
LTU to MIA +6
Donbassaero to Donezk +3
Dniproavia Yak42 +3 (where to ?!)
Ural to Kaliningrad +1
Air Kazakstan to Uralsk +1
Omsavia to Novosibirsk +1
Samara to Samara +2
Germania about +80 to a number of destinations

Lufthansa:
DXB +3
HKG +3
THR +3
CLT +7
YUL +4
BOS +2
NRT +4
PVG +4
PEK +3
DEL +3 (some questions marks behind that one yet)
Lille +12,
LED +7
Riga +7
ATH +7,
Kiev +14
MAN +7
BUD +7
BHX +7
Tirana +7 (more question marks)
CPH +7
LEJ +7
DRS +14
BRE +7

That would mean around 80-100 additional daily operations, boosting the current daily average from 912 scheduled operations to around 1000.

Some questions come to mind:

- will SIA leave completely? Where do they switch to for cargo ops?
- easyjet scaling back to double-daily?
- VBird to Niederrhein +27? They already have four daily flights, are they going eight times daily?
- what are Germania's new destinations? Ten more daily flights sounds quite a lot!

Udo:

Yes SIA has left completely to focus their operations on BRU
Easyjet is going back to double daily
VBird and Germania: The changes are compared to the last summer schedule, not the current winter schedule, so I'd say the schedule for both of them remains largely unchanged compare to the winter.

nice to see that Etihad is coming to MUC. despite the reductions of MK and MK air sechelles, intercontinental airlines seem to finally "discover" MUC on the map.

Johnnybgoode, today justplanes reports Etihad inaugerates 3 flights/week from Abu Dhabi to London Heathrow on 28Mar04. The airline plans to increase to daily service during the summer season.

In this case I'm sceptical the flihgt tu MUC will become true. The plans from Etihad to go to munich where before they get slots in LHR.

LTU 6 times per week to Miami? I think there's something wrong...
Doesn't they planned to fly MUC-MIA once weekly?

Qatar +7!! Wow, that means it is double daily then, right? just like EK, only that EK does it non-stop to the Gulf, QR going through another Star Alliance hub, VIE. Are there any signs that QR is approaching the Star crowd, maybe not as a member, but at least as a buddy?

Updates & Clarifications:

Ethiad to AUH seems problematic now that the LHR slots have been acquired.
LTU to MIA once per week, that was a bit of a typo by me  Smile
QR +7, that includes services MUC-VIE that are part of the DOH-MUC-VIE sectors. It seems that there will be 2 weekly turnarounds and 5 weekly flights to VIE as current standings.

LOT to SZZ +7
Air Dolomiti to RMI +28, GOA +14, BLQ +14
GEXX to HAJ +10

Adria Airways -7

So we're around 800 additional weekly operations now, or around 115 more daily flights, or a daily average somewhere near 1020-1030 operations.

Time for a third runway comes soon if you ask me.
