Best Shuttle From LAX To Anaheim

Thu Feb 12, 2004 2:00 pm

hey all... I'm wondering what the best shuttle from Los Angeles International to the Anaheim area is, mainly interested in terms of price. The best I have found is "Prime Time Shuttle" and they are $30.00 a person... which is pretty good... anyone know any others that have good fares? I don't know if you can beat $30!

I've done the "Airport Bus" a few times. $16 o/w and $25 r/t. Pretty painless.

Super Shuttle rate for additional passengers is less than half the rate for the first passenger. So if you are in a party of 2 or more, it may be your best value.

I've found over and over and over that if you check orbitz.com or priceline.com for cheap rental cars it's often cheaper then the fare for two or three on an airport shuttle.

I've seen $20/day cheeepy rental cars from all the major rental agencies frequently on these discount sites! Worth looking into especially if there's more than 2 of you needing a shuttle (that could easily be over $70 on a shuttle)!

You do need to factor in a bit of gas, if your hotel charges for parking, and maybe if you can pick up your car in LAX and drop it at Anaheim to avoid parking charges. Takes a minute to look into all this but could save some money!

I'm the biggest fan of Priceline ever! LOVE THEM! I've used them for hotels and rental cars all over the globe... they often put my airline discounts (as an employee) to shame!

The debate continues... Starwood or Hyatt... which is better

I used the AirportBus last weekend to get from Anaheim to LAX. $16 is not bad at all.

MetroRail/Metrolink is cheapest. I did go from downtown Long Beach to LAX for, I believe, $1.70 via MetroLink. It has a free shuttle to LAX from one of the stops. I (obviously) didn't use it all the way to Anaheim, but I know one stop has a connection to a MetroRail train to Anaheim station. If you don't mind some sketchy people, its a pretty good deal. Can't beat the price.

Metrolink trains do not serve Long Beach. You took the Metro rail, specifically, the Green Line and changed trains at the Imperial/Wilmington station to the Blue Line.

To take a train from LAX to Anaheim would be more complicated: Metro Green Line towards Norwalk, connect at Imperial/Wilmington to Metro Blue Line towards Los Angeles, connect at 7th Street/Metro Center to Metro Red Line towards Union Station, then connect at Union Station to either Metrolink or Amtrak to Anaheim. I don't know if things have changed, but when the Metro rail first opened there wasn't much space for luggage.

Especially with Amtrak involved, I don't know what the fare would be, but for $16 I would just take the AirportBus and be done with it.

Well I can't really take that airport bus because I need to get between LAX and a specific hotel... Maybe the hotel will have a free shuttle. But we don't have the hotel booked yet, so I don't know what hotel it will be!

I took Super Shuttle to/from LAX and the Anaheim Radisson in 2002. The trip to the hotel was fine, but on the return journey the driver was rude and very dangerous on the freeway so I wouldn't recommend them!

1) Become good friends with someone who lives in the area. 2) Fly into SNA. 3) Get them to let you hitch a ride.

There will not be any free shuttles from LAX to Anaheim, it's too far. Maybe from SNA, but usually if you want a free shuttle you need to be staying at a hotel that is located near the airport.

AirportBus serves the following hotels, those marked with a * are on call, so you'd want to arrange in advance with them (at least for pickup from the hotel, not sure about from LAX to the hotel):

  • Anaheim Hilton & Towers
  • Anaheim Marriott
  • Anaheim Plaza
  • Best Western Anaheim Inn
  • Best Western Park Place
  • Best Western Raffles
  • Carousel Inn
  • Carriage Inn
  • Castle Inn & Suites
  • Clarion
  • Coast Hotel
  • Comfort Inn Maingate
  • Crown Plaza
  • Days Inn Maingate*
  • Desert Inn & Suites
  • Disneyland Hotel
  • Dupree
  • Embassy Suites
  • Fairfield Inn by Marriott
  • Grand Californian
  • Hampton Inn

Good call on that. I couldn't remember which was which and my g/f said she was certain it was the way I said it. SHOWS WHAT SHE KNOWS! Anyways. I don't think most people would want to bother with the link/rail, just pointing out that its the cheapest. Not the best (by a long shot). But when you non-rev to LGB and your flights back get slammed last minute, rail/link (whatever) is a handy way to get from Long Beach to LAX for a couple bucks. Big grin
