Is Swiss Just Giving Up

Thu Feb 12, 2004 11:49 pm

Swiss will stop flying the GVA-London routes (Heathrow, Gatwick and City)
http://www.swiss.com/web/IE6/about-swiss/sw-nw-pr-press-releases-04.htm?newsid=37446 and give them to BA
Their Frequent Flyerprogram TravelClub will merge into BA's Executive Club
They are stopping the NO-business class concept on short haul (ERJ-145 and Saab 2000)
Alot has been said on management being undecided about many things. But I can't see any coherence in their stategy other than positionning themselves for an exit strategy to be taken over, are the creditors pushing for this, I know that the Government of the Confederation is more than willing to have Swiss being bought out.

What do you guys think?

The same is planned for LHR-BSL and MAN-BSL obviously. Swiss agreed to transfer some slots to BA when they joined oneworld and this is the consequence of that.

In any case it doesn't make that much difference, both BA and Swiss' GVA-LHR flights left around the same times. A logical conclusion is that BA will probably increase aircraft size on those flights.
