AS 739 At PDX

Fri Feb 13, 2004 3:39 am

Yesterday I was really shocked to see that Alaska was using a 737-900 on its PDX-LAX-Puerto Vallarta run..According to some of the members of this forum, it was stated that PDX market is too small to justify usage of this type of equipment..Has there really been that big of an increase of numbers of passengers using the PDX-LAX route on Alaska ?..

Leneld:The only 739 that serves PDX is from PVR via LAX only. It leaves in the morning to San Jose,Ca. It doesn;t mean the loads are there. It is just a positioning flight really. I doubt there are a lot of thru pax traffic. Our first PVR flight of the morning arrives from PDX and mosr passenger get on here.
example: Today flight 258 SFO-PVR had 125 passenger, that 1 open seat on a 734. 48 of those passengers were thru pax.

Actually 48 thru-passengers is quite a bit (not enough for NS flight though).
