Anybody Have Nicknames For Aircraft?

Fri Feb 13, 2004 5:47 am

I know a popular thread on this board is to have nicknames for airlines on this board (Doesn't Ever Leave The Airport, for example) how about a nickname for individual types of airplanes, which I haven't seen before on the board? I'll get this show started...

Super-80: Subpar-80
CRJ: CRappyJet
DC-9: DeadCorpse-9
Burma's constitutional referendum options: A. Yes, B. Go to Insein Prison!

When we first received the Canadair Regional Jet:
Corporately named the CL-65, subseqently changed to the CRJ, we who flew it affectionately called it:

"SMURF JET"

A Shorts 330/360 is definitely a Shed. Even the ATC call them this.

KLM Cityhopper. Shithopper! I heard it once near the runway at AMS while spotting. I guess because it is very boring to see them whole day out here.
I love both Airbus and Boeing as much as I love aviation!

I see a lot of New Jersey Air National Guard KC-135s flying patterns near my house, I call them "Old Smokies" for obvious reasons.

I have called the L-1011 series "The Big Pig"

Also referred to the drabby bland interior of some DL 762s as the same.
B4REAL, spelled like it sounds & @RickVanover on Twitter
