Swiss From ZRH To TXL

Sat Feb 14, 2004 12:28 am

Hi,

I am due to fly from Zurich to Berlin with Swiss in a couple of months time, and I wanted to know what aircraft type they operate on this route.

I checked at their website and they didn't have any information regarding the aircraft. Does anyone know? Thanks,

Ron

Hi,

You should check IF SWISS will still be flying!!!

Aircraft is irrelevant if airline is bankcrupt!

Aad665: nothing is indicating that LX will be bankrupt within a few months.

@Ron: a bit difficult to answer your question, because you did not include a month/ a day (mostly smaller aircrafts in weekends)/...

They operate to TXL a mix of AR8/AR1/ER4 with possible upgrades to A32S and possible downgrades to S20/SF4. Hope your question is answered now  Big grin

Also at least one daily flight with ER4 (as long as nothing changes)

Thanks you guys.

Not to sound too dramatic but what aircraft was it that crashed a couple of years ago on that ZRH-TXL route? I think it was operated by Crossair at the time?

Sabena 690: I depart ZRH on April 3rd at 07:30.

Hi Ron,

You can check yourself on www.amadeus.net

You must have been on the EMB-145 Pwm2txlhopper as SWISS does not operate EMB-135s  Big grin

Should indeed be an Avro RJ.

Ron, the plane crashed was a Saab 2000 which is still my favorite regional aircraft.
BTW: Have fun in Berlin and don't hesitate do ask some questions if you need a little direction, some suggestions or whatever. Andreas is always happy to help, and sometimes I'm in the right mood to do so, too. Big grin

Hi

The aircraft that has crashed on the TXL-ZRH route was an Avro RJ100.
The Saab 2000 incident was a different one, flying from BSL to HAM. They got diverted and had to make an emergency landing in Werneuchen, near Berlin.

Thanks Andreas! I just might take you up on that offer.

I've heard so much about Berlin I'm really looking forward to seeing it for myself.

It is most of the time operated by an Avro85 or 100. But I've also operated the early morning flight (7h30 from ZRH) with the A320, as it was full. Less busy flights can be done by the Emb145.
Our few remaining Saab2000's are very rarely used on this route. They tend to operated shorter routes such as ZRH-MUC, STR, LUX, as well as most routes from BSL, and the ZRH-LUG leg.
