Anyone Flown Into CPH? How Was It?

Sat Feb 14, 2004 9:52 pm

Hi A.Nutters,

A workmate of mine flies to CPH on a regular basis and me and him were discussing (Instead of working Big grin) CPH as an airport. He showed me some links about this place and I must say it looks bloody spectacular! He also mentioned to me about the approach, past the Øresund Bridge! That looks damn good.

I want to know your opinions of Denmark and CPH? Is it worth a visit?

Everything is appreciated,

Best Regards,

Justin  Big thumbs up

I changed planes in CPH.
It was great, we were almost landing in the sea, approaching over water, then a little green strip and - touch-down...was fun, especially when coming in on SK A320 with wheel cameras...

The airport was incredible...great architecture, and everything was nice and pretty...wooden floors...the terminal looked more like an expensive mall than an airport terminal.
the luggage carts were really neet...I really liked that place...I aree, it's a spectacular airport.

greets...

Since when does SK operate the A320

Anyway, CPH is one of the best airports to connect at worldwide. And you can see that massive bridge, which is very impressive and on a good day you get a good view of southern Sweden.
Very nice overall.
Just A LOT of SAS aircraft.
But I like them and you do get to see some other airlines also.
100% worth going to!
Where have all the tri-jets gone...

I have flown in to CPH many times.

The best RWY to land on is 22L. Then you will have a good view of the bridge and you will also think that you will be landing in the water, as the Öresund coast is not very far from the beginning of the RWY. But eventually the RWY will appear below you (if it doesnt, then you should start praying! Big grin)

I changed airplane once in CPH. I really liked it. Wonderfull design of the airport, very clean and traveller friendly.

That time I flew YYZ-CPH-PRG on AC and SK. However flight from CPH-PRG was overbooked so the put me on OS CPH-VIE-PRG. But i really liked CPH airport, more than VIE or FRA. I wish AC would not be cutting service there from YYZ. I would always fly to PRG via CPH in the future.

Its also the only airport ive flown into that has a full lit christmas tree out on the taxiways from the runway at christmas ! Big grin

Great city, tho quite small, good fun in the evenings, friendly - but expensive!

Besides its value in terms of design, CPH is cozy, user friendly, excellent restaurants, and quick meal places, bars and shops with a wide choice of Scandinavian goods. Connections are easy and quick, almost impossible to get lost as plenty of information is readily available, luggage seldom goes astray.

On top Copenhagen itself is well worth a visit.

If you are a yachtie, there's a marina right next to the airport (called Dragor). You can also take you boat right underneath the approach path which makes for spectacular views on the approaching aircraft.
Though staying at the marina wasn't quite my thing due to the noise, the views were excellent!

Yeah, CPH is my home airport when returning to southern Sweden and it is the best one I've seen. The comments above describe it very nicely. Great selection of duty free goods, food, drink, etc. The only place I can get "rød pølse og en Grøn", before returning to SFO. (Danish red hotdog and beer)

CPH is one of the most comfortable airports in Europe. They recently renevoted the entire main terminal, and by the looks of those pictures above you have an idea of how nice it has become. The airside part of the airport is really nice too, as you walk past the security there is a large window displaying at least 20 different tails parked outside!!

The only thing I dont like about CPH is that as you walk to the individual terminals there are very few viewing places, even when you are sitting at the gate, a lot of the time your view of the outside is restricted. However compared to other airports CPH is really nice, VERY CLEAN!! Also there is some of the best spotting places that I know of outside of the airport.

Yeah CPH is up there on my all time favorites for sure. Had a DK boyfriend for a while and I ADORED flying into CPH- its gorgeous, just like the rest of the country. And i love flying in at night, you cant beat that at all. Flying into MMX just isnt the same, coming in over the water with the Oresund bridge right there is absolutely the best thing in the world. And SK service cant really be beat!

May be moving close to the Chicago area here soon and Im quite thrilled as I will be able to go visit a close friend in VNO easily, which means, of course, making the connection in CPH and taking SK  Smile

The runway 30 approach as seen below is pretty rare.

22L and 04L is common, but you don't get the same magnificent view of the bridge.
