United Music Video

Sun Feb 15, 2004 6:21 am

In case some of you haven't seen it yet, I have had a "music video" featuring United 737, 747, and 777 air-to-air footage on my site.

http://www.instantboard.com/users/imkeww/viewtopic.php?t=114&sid=dcfb1a561d1b19d52ee06277c768b530

One day I was listening to this electronic song on my iPod, right after I read one of the "Airline theme song" posts, and this song just struck me as perfect for putting together with images of aircraft soaring through the sky.

I've said before that Rhapsody in blue is one of the most effective airline theme songs ever, and while it is still very likeable, a true sign of marketing genius would be to change to a new theme song while Rhapsody in blue is "still on top". Of course, any new song would have to prove as timeless as the Gershwin classic, with the same likeable qualities across all audiences...

Let me know what you think about using the song in advertising...for any airline, not just United... Does it suit an airline?

Hey man, awesome video. I'm really impressed. I think it's especially touching right now as United heads into announcing their new livery.

I think I especially liked the video because it reminded of the Boeing commerial featuring Forever New Frontiers.

I think the techno is a great way to show that a company is "hip" with the times and a good attention getter.

Are you sure about United focusing their advertising to young people? Seems to me, that's a bit out of their target demographic. But, if you catch them young, maybe they will stay with you forver.

Keep up the great work.

Nope, not sure at all. But the young, upwardly mobile (college age and up) are certainly within their target. They are the up and coming business travelers...

However, I am trying to gauge reaction to the song because I will use it in the advertising of my airline, called SimpliFly, in my senior thesis-equivalent project for my aviation management course. I am the "SVP Marketing" of our fake airline, and my professor has a keen eye for good marketing, so I want to wow him.

Our target market is 20-30 something professionals, retired couples, and families/kids (MCO is our biggest destination).

Thanks for the comments.

I think its great, you did a great job, way to go. It just really has that great good feeling of aviation for me. I like it a lot. My only down point is I think it gets a little to repetitive with the planes turning. But still overall I love it, great job.

The name of the song is "Matrix II" by Cynic Project. Hey UA744Flagship, how about a challenge. Why don't you trying making a music video using UA's new color on MSFS a/cs?! It would be really nice.

And also, UA744Flagship, share your "Tribute to United" Video as well. I loved it, because I am also one big United fan. Everybody, Right Click and Save Target As. This music video has Gershwin's classic, "Rhapsody in Blue."

Wow, thanks guys... so the reaction to the song is positive  Smile

The song is known by two names, but by the same artist - "The Cynic Project":

Search for "Matrix ][" -or "GRID ]["

The song came out in 1999 and quickly soared to the top of now defunct MP3.com's free download lists...

One of the artists is a yougin like us, trained in all sorts of Piano while growing up. I love their music because I play piano as well.

I will put it up on my website once I can free up some space. (It's not available on iTunes).

The videos came off of the Star-Alliance.com website.
