I have heard one rumor that Skywest may come in there with EMB-120s. Nothing definite though.

I don't believe Skywest can contractually fly EFD-IAH. Their current agreement with Continental allows for twelve destinations, all of which are currently being served. Without an amendment or dropping of one city, Skywest won't be flying intracity any time soon.

It is a shame to lose this flight. Not only is it the only true intra-city flight, but I am firm in my belief that a lot of southside customers will fly SWA out of Hobby from now on. Having done the flight myself, it was very enjoyable to hear the captain say that flight duration would be 9 minutes. I flew the ERJ, ATR, and EMB on EFD-IAH (I won't miss the EMB, though- I'm not scared of flying but a -120 in rain clouds at low altitude can make you wish you walked).

Hello. If you wanted to get to IAH from Elllington or HOU, there is a BUS service that goes to all 3 airports. CHEAPER and less of a HASSEL.

It might be a hassle, but we like flying, no matter how much of a hassle it is.  Big thumbs up

Cheaper and less of a hassle--I see you didn't read up on the topic. I use the flight regularly--it is free and so is parking at ellington field. If you live on the southside of Houston this shaves at least a half hour off of your trip to IAH. You get frequent flyer miles and you avoid the check-in congestion at IAH. You must think that its a stand alone service and people fly it just to get across town. Lets put more thought into our post.

Taking a bus from EFD/HOU to IAH, in Houston traffic? It may be cheaper, but less hassle? - no way. I happen to live 5 min from IAH, but if I lived anywhere south of the south loop, I would have been departing out of EFD also.

i was just thinking... so say youre flying EFD-IAH-LAX...or anywhere from IAH, and your EFD-IAH flight gets delayed and you get to IAH too late to make your flight... so they put you up in a hotel and you technically havent even left the city. i wonder if that ever happened...

Yes--they could put you up in a hotel--but typically they'd just pay for your cab ride--which from IAH could easily be $40 to say the Galleria area or to Clear Lake area (NASA). The EFD flights were rarely late unless it was weather related--which would generally mean flights at IAH were late anyway. I'm going to miss this service--I think Lear777 is right; Southwest might see a slight inrease in there revenue over at Hobby.

It is a free service. You have to pay an extra PFC fee of like $5--but parking is free and the Onepass miles make up for that. I'm telling you this as fact because I regularly fly this route. The convenience alone is worth the extra PFC. Do some reading on the topic before you talk about something you don't know about.

Excuse you. I happen to know people who fly that route who pay $$$$$$$$$$ to fly it. And its more than a PFC charge.

So there's gotta be some reason that they pay, rather than taking the "convenient" bus service between the airports, right?

The flight is free (minus the PFC) for those passengers connecting onwards at IAH, which is... well, pretty much everyone.

Same thing with the HPN-EWR flight that Continental operates. Theoretically, it's a very expensive flight (if the itinerary is HPN-EWR-HPN). However, that fare is rarely sold, because 99% or more of the pax on these two routes connect.

Quit contradicting yourself.

The charge for EFD-IAH is $11, all taxes and government fees. However, that's if you connect. Continental.com charges you $269 for EFD-IAH round trip. To find out the truth, I then searched EFD-LAX, then IAH-LAX. EFD-LAX is $490, IAH-LAX is $479.

It varies from flight to flight and season. Everytime I fly EFD-IAH-MSY I only pay the PFC charge over the IAH-MSY flight. However, the seats are subject to availability; therefore some of the EFD-IAH-MSY iteneraries would be extremely expensive due to the number of seats and fare class sold.

and to you Cmckeithen--I don't care who you say you know that flies the flight--I fly the route regularly. I'm talking from first hand knowledge; until you do your homework on the topic--your statement is merely opinion that contradicts fact--which in other words is useless to anyone but yourself.

NWA-Man, I just checked CO's website. HPN-EWR is currently only once a day. That tells me that is probably primarily operates to reposition the aircraft. It is clearly not a shuttle comparable to EWR-EFD. I also checked random dates this summer, and did not find that flight operating any day I checked this summer.

I was actually rather surprised it operated at all. I checked on the existence of the flight awhile back and noticed that it was long gone then.

No, CO would never overnight someone at IAH caused they missed the last flight to EFD. They would do the cab thing.

Here is a funny about a similar situation though. My best friend and I live in DEN. Sometimes he flies out of COS though. He missed his connection on America West to COS. But he could still make the flight to DEN. Therefore they flew him to DEN, and bought his taxi to COS. It is only about a 70 mile drive. Even though he lives in DEN, he still had to go to COS cause his car was there. I am not sure, but I think he had to go to COS the next day cause his luggage was there.

Dont know if he'll do COS again for that reason.

I bought a OW ticket on this flight one time for $70. Then another time I bought an ID-90 for $25 on the IAH-HOU run.
