LanPeru, XJ is Mesaba Airlines, WF is Wideroe (Norway). By holding your cursor over the code, it should tell you what it is.

Non-execultive corporate employees (i.e. finance, planning, ops, marketing) make anywhere from $30,000 to $125,000. Of course this include a vast range and variety of different jobs. Once you get over the $150 grand mark, it is more than likely that you're one of the top 20 dogs at the airline. This is for mainline airlines in the U.S.. This is all just what I would guess based on the payscales I hear about.

Air Midwest...$6.50-11.00 per hour for CSA/Ramp employees, but the pay scale caps out at $11.00 (at AMW, not sure about Mesa but it can't be that far off) so you can be there 15 years and only be making $11 per hour. Its basically a slap in the face by MESA management, but i'm only here because I like what I do, not for the money, I'd work for free, but don't tell them that!!!

I have always been curious as to what the ranges of salaries for Airline Pilots are? I know that this is perhaps a very broad range but are there min/max values and are those determined by the aircraft type? Years of experience? Airline? Miles flown? Market? etc..
That is, is it safe to say that the bigger the aircraft, the higher the salary or is that not even related. And will the salary of a pilot of a 737 in airline X be the same as a pilot of a 737 in airline Y?

If anyone has any numbers, that would be greatly appreciated,

Cheers,

The bigger the aircraft (heavier the aircraft I believe), the higher the salary, yes. The highest paid pilot in the United States is probably a Northwest 747 Captain or a Delta 777 Captain at around $300,000 a year.

These are hourly B737NG/A32X pay rates for a 12 year captain:
Delta-$245
Northwest-$212
Southwest-$162
Continenta-l$160
Alaska-$158
US Airways-$150
American-$147
United-$147
AirTran-$145
JetBlue-$136
Frontier-$132
America West-$120

I used to work with some WN guys, they start pretty low, (like 7.50?) but if they stick for awhile, it can get pretty high. FedEx has different pay scales depending on the market size, but here (GTF-pretty small town) they start at 10.56 w/full benys.

at CO upstairs and downstairs are soon to be starting at $10/hour. With topping out at around $22. Lead Agents get an override of $1.75/hour on top of their pay based on seniority. Operation agents get a $.75 override.
Supervisors start at $37,795/year, ranging up to $70,000. Not to bad.

uadc,
You might want to check your pay scale again, $22.00? little higher.

CALMSP, You must be making around $10.00? because there WILL be somebody at CO that is working right next to you and bringing in a fat check. Maybe when you get a little seniority?

so what point are you trying to get across here UAL 777? Long before you started for UAL they were paying your fellow employees larger amounts of money, its not to bad when my aunt who works upstairs for you guys is making around $29/hour. And what about your mechanics, how much do they make? I'm sure its a lot of money. And what about your pilots, in 2000, they wanted more money, and work less, and you wonder why you guys are in a financial squeeze.

Wow, I never realized how underpaid airline personnel are; I mean, DAMN! Even as an intern at Boeing, I was making $15.75/hr. How can anyone support a family on these ridiculously low wages?

I make about $15.00 per hour. I work as a CSA in a 4 Hour rule station I think 15.00 is pretty good since I've only been with NW for only 6 years. Also in OKC the Cost of living is a lot cheaper than let say MSP or NYC so I'm not complaining about my pay. None of us want to take paycuts, but sometimes you have to tell yourself A paycheck is better than no paycheck. my 2 cents

Northwestair,

When I was my 6th year I thought that very same thing..as most new hires and more "jr people" do..Trust me, the company LOVES scared people like yourself. Ones who think they are week, and "have to give".

Trust me you will give and then you will bend over and take it big time and then get a slapp on the face! It has been proven over and over and over!

We do NOT need to take paycuts! That is the scare tatic mgmt loves to do and has done for my 18 years here!

WN employees (ramp/provisioning and operations/freight).

Ramp starts at $8.75 to 24.00. 12 years to topout.

Operation starts at $9.10 to 24.35. 12 years to topout.

So how does this compare to the "Legacy Carriers?"

Be sure to include profitsharing (every year for the last 30 years).

NWAFA, I agree with you. I know you had to take a paycut in 1991 and the company is not following thru with thier promise. I think a paycut is going to be a hard thing to sell this year cause so many employees were burned by management in the early 90's and these senior employees won't forget that.

Well I'm interested in what Passages is going to say this month I haven't gotten my yet but I think I will receive it either today or tomorrow. The only thing I can't understand is Anderson says we need to get in line with the LCC, but the LCC are making just as much or if not a little more than we are. We did take a paycut last year when we had to pay for our Health Insurance for me that was a $200.00 a month paycut. another interesting year it's going to be.

Oh I know.. I read that in newswire about whats coming in the mail!

Anderson does not know what we are. Are we a LCC or a Full Service carrier? he wants the "saliers of the lower LCC, but the full service as a legacy" Well, which is is good'ol Dick?

I hear over and over and over in the galley that we would rather see what would happen in BK (which we know that wont happen) or have us go under before we give ol' Dick and Gary more money

Thank you for the info KaiGywer. Starting salary is not that bad as I thought before. Considering these are regional carriers, I guess, main carriers salaries could be even higher.

SoAmSky, they probably pay more, but remember that it is usually harder to get a job with mainline, since they have so many people on furlough. Have your friend go to one of the Mesaba info meetings and check it out  Smile

thats what people have to understand, in many cities you sit around most of the time b/c you only have a few flights. Let's look at CO's operation in ABQ. 5 flights a day, a 5 year employee there is making $13-14/hour. But here in MSP where we are going to be up to 22 flights per day, an employee who has been here 5 years, is also making 13-14/hour. It would be nice to see your pay have a little consideration for the work your doing. The employee in ABQ may only work one outbound flight in the morning and go home. It doesn't always equal out though for everyone, or in other peoples eyes. But as long as you stick with it, it will pay out in the end. But on the other hand, why do some of these people complain, they picked this job and got themselves into this financial situation, if they want, quit and go somewhere else where you can make more money, no one is stopping you. Or how about moving up in the company, work on moving into a supervisor position, that should pay a little more than just throwing bags around on the ramp.
So at times I dont necessarily feel sorry for some of these people.
