Anyone know the status of GA at DCA? Will it ever come back?

I don't think you mean Garuda Indonesia. Check your codes please.

No, I don't think he does. I think he means general aviation, which is also abbreviated GA.

On airnav.com I see no FBO at DCA, so I'd have to assume that there's nothing. I can understand - even if it was allowed, with all the security around there it's probably more trouble than it's worth, and DCA was supposed to be expensive too. I just wonder where all the bizjets go when they're flying to DC.

We're lucky we have commercial aviation out of National!!! Seriously, the proximity of National to the Pentagon, White House and Capitol building make it unlikely that GA will return. Conceivably, they could put a gross weight cap and limit it to smaller props, but that's really not the type of GA traffic that would need DCA. There are enough alternative airfields to justify keeping DCA closed to GA. In addition to IAD, BWI and Manassas, there is Montgomery County and College Park (smaller airfields).

Actually- Signature's website says they still maintain an operation at DCA for the government-sanctioned private traffic into and out of DCA. (I see a private J31 and King Air there regularly as I pass on the Metro). That and Beltwaybandit- you forget College Park and other airfields around DC are limited in that Secret Service and other FAA permissions are needed to fly into or out of these airports limiting their usefulness (sadly)...

(ps- the spellcheck suggested I replace 'website' with 'obesity'! go figure...)

We'll certainly keep pushing for full restoration of GA access, but we have to take it step by step. Next goal is restored access to the DC3 airports and elimination of the ADIZ.

I'm down there quite frequently, and Signature is definitely still in operation. In addition to the J31 and the King Air, I've also been seeing a US Coast Guard Gulfstream (forget it was a V or not) quite often lately.
