I fly up front as often as I can, being CO
Platinum Elite, I am upgraded most of the time on domestic flights (the new confirguation 757-300 that CO
is flying on the EWR
route, a route that I fly often, is a problem.......only 12 F seats!) Regarding overseas flights, CO
does NOT upgrade to Business First on a complimentery basis (someone said that they did in an earlier post) even for its very best customers, unless there is a severe overbooking situation or an aircraft swap or something like that.....in over 30 overseas flights on CO
in the past couple years, only twice was I upgraded (one case: overbooking - 40 seats short in economy, all gold and platinum elites went up front, second case: 757 swapped for a 762 on a last minute basis, chaos in re-assigning seats, BF
was rather empty and as a platinum member the gate agent upgraded me.) I also use my CO
miles on free Business First tickets.
On very long haul flights, I will spend the extra money to sit up front.....on flights like Europe to Australia, its well worth the investment, and with some reasearch, special fares are available, even in the premium cabins.
