A380 Upper Deck - Not Much Of A View?

Sat Feb 21, 2004 8:41 pm

I saw this photo of the upper deck of the A380 fuselage today, and I know this has been mentioned before, but the angle on those windows sure looks high.

It just seem like it won't be much of a view for anyone with window seats compared to being on the middle deck (where those with window seats should get a great view).

I know it's not a big deal, but I for one like to have a good view when taking off & coming into land.

Is this much different to the upper deck of a 747?

The view from the upper deck of the 747-300 and -400 is fine. I'm sure the A380 will the same.

Best views from the upper deck of a 747. The A380 should do just fine.

hmm, looking at the 380 against the 747 pics posted above--the upper deck of the 747 is not as rounded as the 380 is, so yes, the view will not be quite the same, and the angle of the 380 windows is many more degrees past 90 than the 747 upper deck.

but i dont think the angle of incidence on the 380 will really make much of a difference for people sitting up there.

How is the view from the upper deck of a 744? I have never been up there. Is it any different from the lower deck?  Wow!

Up in the sky, it won't make much difference.

Fuffla - I thought it was quite a bit different. When sitting at the tarmac the closest thing you could see on the ground was about 10 feet from the plane. The other thing is because of the curvature, I thought that the gap between the two window panes was quite a bit larger, maybe 2-3 inches. This made the angle a little worse. Still well worth the experience though.
