A New Delta.com

Sun Feb 22, 2004 10:01 am

Who thinks that Delta needs to design a new Delta.com? I think the sight is a bit dated, but still very functional. I love Continental.com and USAirways.com!
Looking forward to the new AA

Delta.com does certainly need a new website. it is kind of hard to get around. Delta Airlines is not the only airline who needs a new website. I think United Airlines should make their website like the current Ted Airlines one.
2013 Airports: EWR, JFK, LGA, LIS, AGP, DEN, GIG, RGN, BKK, LHR, FRA, LAX, SYD, PER, MEL, MCO, MIA, PEK, IAH

I like the "look" of Delta's web site, but it's god awful to find anything at all.

Off-topic: But on the other hand United's web site is (to me anyways) very easy to find things, I just think the "look" could be updated, like Yanksn4 said, more like the Ted site. I have a feeling that before they come out of Chapter 11 that they will have a new site, that will look like for example http://www.theunitedshop.com and http://www.flyted.com

while the looks of the website for AA.com is very awesome it takes me a very long time to load a page up. and i swear it took me 30 minutes to find a price on one of the airline tickets because it was very slow in loading up. this may make other customers turn away if its to slow to upload. If i wasn't an AAdvantage member I'd be booking other airlines but since I am, and even then, I use expedia.com as its faster and rarely i get an expensive price with it.

Alex.

ps: delta.com is ok.

I agree with Atrude777 - AA.com is probably one of the most functional and useful websites out there, but on a slower-connected computer it takes FOREVER to load up. I'm sure it has something to do with the frame design and all that (I'm not very web-savvy, so I don't know the exact terminology.)

I do agree that Delta could use an overhaul. Their site is somewhat bland-looking compared to the other carriers, although it has essentially the same functionality. It's definitely an issue of aesthetics and not usability.

With Delta's current corporate image, I know they could create an awesome site. It would also help them sell a more edgy Delta.

I know my way around Delta.com pretty well, unfortunately that includes going to "Site Map" and finding things that way. What I don't like is their fare search engine. If it can't find a flight, it suggests trying a different time. How about just telling me the times that are available?

United.com is pretty bad. I have trouble navigating from itineraries to mileage statement without going back to the main page and logging in again. Nor can I change a seat assignment online; I have to call.

I find Orbitz works rather well. The matrix is great, allowing me to quickly compare various options at once. After booking is good too, it still lets me pull up itineraries from 2001. And I can go in whenever I want and look at the seat map and change seat assignments, if the airline supports it (Aloha doesn't, for example, but United does).

I also like the way Southwest displays fares. You can see all the fares available in the market, and which flights will get you the best fare.

Funny that you mention about AA's page loading slow. I interviewed someone in the Marketing department at American for my senior project in High School and I mentioned to him about AA's website taking forever sometimes and he said that was something he was always bringing up at meetings.
Also, he said he's been pushing to get an American Airlines website in Spanish, not sure if that has happened yet though.

Delta and song have one problem which drives me absolutly crazy but they would be great sites if they fixed it. The problem is that you cannot type in NYC and find flights from JFK LGA and EWR in one shot. Instead, you need to type in all of the information multiple times in order to find fares from all three airports. This is especially frustrating on song because every tyme you change the departure airport you need to change the arrival one two. I go insaned everytime I need to book a flight to FL on song's site because I can fly out of EWR JFK or LGA and into either FLL or PBI. That means that i need to put in the information at least 6 times just to find fares. DELTA: PLEASE CHANGE THIS, YOU ARE THE ONLY AIRLINE (that i know of) THAT HAS THIS PROBLEM.

usairways.com isn't bad, except that the reservations page is terrible (although getting better).

NYCfuturepilot, I feel your pain as when I try and book tickets to go to London from NYC, I have to do each separately and it takes a while. So, yes Delta PLEASE fix this.

Delta.com is worthless, especially on multi-segment flights. You are basically left to your own devices to find the lowest fares. Like someone else said, you can't give a general area for a departing flight, you have to select one. Also, looking up Skyteam connections is virtually impossible--as Delta.com will only show codeshare flights, none other.

USAirways.com just has an awkward interface.

United/ITN tends to have problems with page errors.

AA.com looks great but is full of bugs. If you don't believe me, just ask anyone at FlyerTalk.

usairways.com looks great and is pretty good overall, but I really wish they'd add the drop-down navigation to all pages, not just the home page.
