This is a very good piece of business for Virgin and there is the possibility that LGW-SJU could develop into a regularly scheduled route.

Will the A340 operate in a standard configuration with 3 classes of service? If it does, it will be interesting to see how P&O/Princess handles the premium seats and what the upgrade costs will be.

Hi Dutchjet

Yes the flights will be operated by standard 3-class A340's - currently 40/28/187 config.

It will be nice to see a VS A340 in San Juan, I believe they operated a charter flight between SJU and LHR this past Dec. with a 747-400 (for the same cruise line). I would only hope we might see a scheduled service in the future.
Maybe LGW-PUJ-SJU-LGW.- a route like this might work out

Having worked for a major cruise line before, usually what the cruise line does is, based on the type of cabin you book, i.e. the more expensive the better class of service you will get, it is a good way to get people to buy a better cabin at a higher price. Or they will offer the premium and upper class for an additional charge.
