Tokyo-Bound Flight Returns to New York
NEW YORK (AP) - An American Airlines flight that took off from Kennedy International Airport was forced to turn back due to engine trouble, authorities said.
A problem was detected shortly after Tokyo-bound Flight 167 took off at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday. The plane, which was carrying 133 passengers, landed safely and no one was injured, authorities said.
The incident was simply ``a mechanical problem,'' said Carlo Bertolini, a spokesman for American Airlines.
Just a heads up. It was only carrying 133 pax so it was probably a 777. Does AA have alot of mishaps w/ their a/c. It seems like airlines like UA and SWA have a lot more issues but then again they do opperate the largest ammount of one a/c so things are bound to happen! Sorry if there was an earlier post about this.
