Airport With Most "heavy" Arrivals / Departures

Tue Feb 24, 2004 6:37 am

I would guess that it would be an airport like LHR (all I see when I am there are rows of BA 777's, 767s, and 744's Also it may be because other than the western Europe, England is isolated and far away from most countries. What about maybe JFK... does anyone know for sure which airport has the most heavy aircraft -- 757 or larger-- going in and out every day?

LAX has to be pretty high up there on the list.
Last year 1,944 New Yorkers saw something and said something.

LHR yes.

Also HKG/SIN/BKK. Major airports on the Europe-Australia, and Europe-Asia routes.

I would have thought Tokyo Haneda 2002 5th busiest for passengers in the world 58.5 million and not in the top 30 for aircraft movements.
As a pure guess for number 2 what about Memphis big FEDEX fleets of A310/A300/MD10's & MD11's

I think that SFO has a greatest balance between wide body a/c and smaller a/c. I would still have to say a moajority of SFO's traffice are europiean and asian wide bodys. A perfect flow too. When the EU planes leave the asian a/c land and so on and so forth. It's a good mix and thats why I'm glad that I live in the bay area so all I have to do is jump on BART and spot away. If anyone wants to know where there's this great spotting area near SFO please e-mail me and no it's not the parking lot of the marriot or hilton, its a specal place that I found and it doesnt take much to get there!
