Chance Of Nonreving UA ORD-HNL?

Wed Feb 25, 2004 1:20 pm

Hey, now that ORD-HNL is back, of all REAL (read REAL, not wishful) United employees or dependents on the forum here, how difficult was it to standby on the old ORD-HNL, flight 43/44, the DC10 flight?

I'm thinking of trying to nonrev on UA001 this summer...love the thought of going direct to Hawaii agian...and making my 7th trip to Hawaii on the 777.

"Hawaii" and "NonReving on UA" should never be in the same sentence.

It's never easy!

Hawaii and non revving on any airline shouldn't really be in any sentence. As a general rule, the HNL flights are full before you start, and then there are like 80 people going for the 2 seats that open up.

If non-reving to Hawaii, do it in Jan and Feb, NEVER and I mean NEVER try to nonrev or use a companion ticket in the summer.

There are enough times in the year where Hawaii flts are not packed, it's easier to just not even try during the many full times. Christmas holiday, summer, Spring Break, etc are times to avoid Hawaii as a non-rev. Try during late Jan-early Feb, late April-mid May, Sep-mid Nov, and early Dec, and have a great time!

You could buy an ID-75 on UA as an employee and that will raise your Boarding Priority to BP-6 (I think). Honestly if you wanted it that bad though, you might as well buy a positive space ticket. ID-75's are great when your in a jam though!

FA4UA,

I've heard the rumours of how horrible it is to try and non-rev on any carrier to HNL. I am a fare paying passenger and almost always hear them asking for volunteers at the gate to give up seats due to overselling. And you can always tell the non-revs at the gate, no offense folks, because they just seem to pack it in and go to wait for the next flight. The routes from the West Coast to Hawaii and vice/versa are also the top requested free tickets in FF plans as well. I have heard you need to book a year in advance for these seats, which is why I use my mileage for u/g's.
