has brand loyalty with the Dominincan population ,but if Delta offers competitive fares year round and they establish themselves in the Dominincan market they could make it work. Lets take a similar exapmle- JetBlue in San Juan, they were very well known in New York when they entered the JFK
market but they were hardly known in Puerto Rico, AA
has a huge following in Puerto rico, travel agents back them up, it;s one of their most importnat routes out of San Juan - but B6
still pulled made it work, and I believe they are doing very weil on the routel. Im prety sure DL
will make it in the route ,(JFK
) needs some real competition-Air Santo Domingo and North American provides an alternative but it's very small compared to AA
's huge presence on the market. Lets not forget Dominincans love bargains, and considering the plane will have an American tail on it should help Delta out.
